'Hostile State': North Korea Makes Official Declaration on 'Brink of War' (October 2024) www.newsweek.com
... North Korea has amended its constitution to define South Korea as a "hostile state," Pyongyang said Thursday. The announcement, made in an English-language statement by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), follows Kim Jong Un's January directive to revise the constitution and officially designate the South as North Korea's "primary foe." It also comes only days after Seoul confirmed the North had destroyed road and rail links with the South, the latest in Kim's purge of symbols of eventual inter-Korean unification. At a meeting of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea last December, he called for the country to abandon this long-standing goal and for a fulfilment of his earlier call to sever railways to "an irretrievable level." "This is an inevitable and legitimate measure taken in keeping with the requirement of the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) constitution which clearly defines the ROK (Republic of Korea) as a hostile state," KCNA said of the destruction of road and rail links, using the official names for the North and South, respectively. ...

Six months ago, I would have agreed.
But now, with Russia's backing?
Things have changed.

Yeah, what could go wrong with a major shooting war against a nuclear power, and the ignorant anti-American Trump in power? MY guess is that Trump would just cave and give Kim Jong UN everything he wants, like he did with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and blame others for the debacle to come.

"absolutely impossible to sit idly by"
Have they tried standing by?
Or standing by to stand by?

The Lil Kim should do something about it. Test out that pacifist constitution Japan has nowadays.
See how long it takes for Japan to withdraw from the NPT and try out their nuclear weapons. My guess, less than six months from when Norks FA till they FO.

Have they really changed though? NK always had China. Russia is in a massive quagmire that has them dependent on NK for Arms and men. Japan is investing in these systems exactly because Russia and the dangerous North Korean actions.
I think the only reason NK still exists is to serve as buffer zone for China from South Korea. I think if China wanted to annex NK it would happen overnight.

Hard to believe we will not be in a major shooting war within two years of the Trump administration, one with tactical nukes being used, and massive loss of life of military assets like subs and carriers. Fascism is on the march across the world and of course, across our government.
