This is just bull manure.
No surprise, considering the poster.

#2, go on, tell us how promoting suicide is good for a kids tv show.

Why not follow your own advice and not pay any attention to the Trump show if you hate it? Hypocrite. If you can't ignore the trainwreck, then you shouldn't be throwing stones at others.
I actually like Doctor Who as a whole, although it's had terrible seasons sometimes, especially when the same production team stays too long. A show promoting suicide at Christmas time is definitely newsworthy and warrants discussion

you are pissing yourself over a kids show.

The preferred term is, unaliving.
"Doctor Who special promoted Unaliving on Christmas Day"
Please be respectful.

"over a kids show."
For one thing, it's not a kids show. It was always a family show, with adult themes in it ever since the very first episode.
For another, even if it was a kid's show, so what? Why would you be cool with a kid's show encouraging depressed people to commit suicide (couched in a euphemistic sci fi metaphor, of course)?
#8 | Posted by sentinel at 2024-12-30 10:27 PM | Reply
It's a kid show, kiddo.

And you're okay with telling kids to unalive themselves if they feel like they have nothing to live for. Cool.

Look at the ratings. You're practically the only one watching this crap.

I read the capsule, it seems to me the woman kills herself to save the Earth, a noble act. Do you hate the Iron Giant and Jesus as well?

Jesus committed suicide, so what 's the problem?

Fuggin idiot did not actually watch the show and based his entire opinion on a complete horse manure review of said show.
Boy's just a dirtbag.

"I read the capsule, it seems to me the woman kills herself to save the Earth, a noble act. Do you hate the Iron Giant and Jesus as well?'
I actually watched the episode. The woman (Joy) was clearly portrayed as lonely and depressed. She felt guilty about the fact she didn't get to see her mother in the hospital when she was dying of COVID.
I haven't read the version of christian mythology where Jesus had low self esteem and felt he had no purpose in life. Which book is that in?

Apparently it didn't bother you enough to stop watching after they did the same thing in the 2007 Christmas Episode "Voyage of the Damned" when Kylie Minogue's character, Astrid, scarified her life much in the same way that Joy did in this year's episode. Joy became a star while Astrid became stardust.
Of course that's when they had a straight, white male playing the Doctor so perhaps you weren't so inclined then to be looking for something to cry about.

I get it, she felt sad and depressed because she had no purpose, then realized that sacrificing herself for the common good was her purpose. I see nothing wrong with that.

"I actually watched the episode."
You realize, of course, that literally nobody here believes you, right?

#17- Minogue's character was not depressed or suicidal. She actually had a lot to live for and almost became the Doctor's companion, so she was actually sacrificing something.

#18- Sounds like you've never known anyone who was depressed or suicidal.

Something must have really triggered these guys to want to wish death on another person over a fantasy TV show

Have you tried Midol? I hear it might help.

Sentinels crusade against Russell T Davies is getting pretty hysterical alright.
#27 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-01-01 07:40 PM | Reply
To be fair, Davies did go out on him.
#28 | Posted by Corky at 2025-01-01 07:50 PM | Reply
Encouraging depressed people to kill themselves is just hysterical, isn't it.

"Sentinels crusade against Russell T Davies is getting pretty hysterical alright."
The fact you think I'm on a "crusade" against someone simply for calling out some legitimately dodgy ---- says a lot more about you than anything else.

How many threads is this complaining about Davies for you? 3? 4?
Change the channel, you moron.
#31 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-01-02 05:09 PM | Reply
"How many threads is this complaining about Davies for you?"
Zero, actually. Davies didn't even write this episode, and I didn't bring him up.
But since you mentioned it, how many threads is this where you jumped to the defense of the white male show runners who refuse to move on and let younger and more diverse people produce the show? It's literally been the same three white guys in charge of the show for the past 20 years.
#32 | Posted by sentinel at 2025-01-02 05:34 PM | Reply
so stop watching! what is wrong with you?

"so stop watching! what is wrong with you?"
The irony is totally lost on this one.
#34 | Posted by sentinel at 2025-01-02 05:38 PM | Reply
what irony? i stopped watching the show when it got bad. i dont constantly complain about it here like a 12 year old girl.
#35 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-01-02 05:45 PM | Reply
You still watch the Trump show, even though it got bad a long time ago. So STFU. If you don't like Doctor Who threads, don't watch them!
#36 | Posted by sentinel at 2025-01-02 05:48 PM | Reply
only a derpy little kid would compare paying attention to politics to watching a british science fiction show.
you cant think.
