"We used to joke, 'A hundred men eat breakfast, seven men eat dinner.' That's pretty much how it is." -- Russian soldier, on the frontlines in Ukraine

They have more people. Russian forces are regenerating. The Ukrainian manpower shortage was never resolved.

How many years has Putin's 3 day "military exercise" been going on for now?

Almost 3. The greater conflict has been going since 2014.

Russian footnote to American's Vietnam. Also, I am reminded of the tale of Brer Rabbit's encounter with Tar Baby! en.wikipedia.org

A generation ago many of the far-right militia folk in the US would have gladly gone to Ukraine to fight Russians. Nowadays those same folks want to fight Ukrainians. Of course, the Russkies will not allow any US fighters in their ranks--they will have better training, better gear, better food and those cool Fred Perry polo shirts. Can't have that in the Russian Army...

They already had an American in their ranks. He was raped to death iirc.
There's a lot more Trumpers fighting for Ukraine than there are Trumpers fighting for Russia.

I believe more Americans have gone to fight for ISIS than Russia.

I would dispute that.
Not all Americans go to Russia to fight for Russia. There have been hundreds if not thousands of Russian spies.
It's been estimated that there are about a hundred thousand foreign spies in our country right now. Not all from Russia of course. But even the (former) head of the FBI said:
"The Russian intelligence footprint " and by that, I mean Russian intelligence officers " is still way too big in the United States," he added. "And it's something that we're constantly bumping up against and trying to block and prevent and disrupt in every way we can."

You undermine your own posts:
"By that I mean Russian intelligence officers".

I know where we can get rid of all those cluster bombs, and no one will complain. Really--who's going to say "Stop hurting those Russian visitors!" or "Ukraine is bad for defending its homeland!". Who? Oh yes, a bunch of MAGA Party faithful in Congress and the Senate...

We already sent vast amounts of CBUs. Ukraine has more gear than they can use.
It's not about gear. It has not been for some time. It's about Ukraine not being able to draft enough troops, that's it.
