Director-writer David Lynch, who radicalized American film with with a dark, surrealistic artistic vision in films like "Blue Velvet" and "Mulholland Drive" and network television with "Twin Peaks," has died. He was 78.

Damn. It's been a privilege having a life that intersects with this great artist.

I'm glad we got another season of Twin Peaks out of him.

I was a big fan of Twin Peaks back in the day, and Elephant Man, too. Even Dune.

The best thing though, is that we have the same haircut!

David Lynch - So Glad from an album he later released in 2011. As a long time fan, his inspiration will be missed.

I remember seeing "Blue Velvet" when I was young. It changed my expectations about what movies could be. He was a creative genius!
