The orange turd's decision to kneecap the CDC is looking better every day.

Even if we had competent government, another pandemic would screw us all because of how selfish and dumb too many Americans are

@#1 ... kneecap the CDC ...

While this mutation of the bird flu still has not attained the ability for human-to-human transmission (that's the key thing to watch, imo), it does show the ability of a virus to mutate.

So, how will Pres Trump respond?

Tests identify H5N9 avian flu at California duck farm

... Highly pathogenic H5N9 avian flu has been identified for the first time in US poultry, on a duck meat farm in California that experienced an outbreak in November 2024, according to a notification today from the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

Both H5N9 and H5N1 were detected at the duck farm in Merced County, according to tests conducted by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratory. The event began on November 23, with clinical signs that included increased deaths in the ducks.

State officials quarantined the affected farm, and a culling operation of the facility's nearly 119,000 birds was completed on December 2. Scientists with the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), state partners, and wildlife officials are conducting a comprehensive epidemiologic investigation. ...

Pestilence is but 1 of the four horsemen.

Famine is also taking root as Trump deports the people who provide the nation with food.

Farm and ranch has preference (or senior water rights) during dry periods, as opposed to natural waterfowl production areas (or equivalent). Particularly in the West. Waterfowl go where there is water, which is becoming more and more limited to farm and ranch and where we domesticate our animals.

"So, how will Pres Trump respond"

Nothing, unless he takes the other, radically different course and does next to nothing.

I remember when Covid was far, far away, and then there was a case or two in Washington State, and then...a million people were dead in the US.
Electing self-serving grifters will work out well for the billionaire caste, but one really wonders if this is the year that Bird Flu is the new Covid.

If it is, then Donald won't protect us.

If this fly gets out then what, another million dead?

You know, a million Americans dead here and million dead there and eventually it adds up to something.

It's a hangin' offense in these parts to report such lies. Flu from ducks? Pah! And when Bob Kennedy gets approved, he will sue each of those ducks, and everyone who reported this fake news...

So this time the plague will hit at the start as opposed to the end of his error. I wonder how many Americans will needlessly die this time, last time it was nearly half a million. I'm sure that with Brainworm in his cabinet he'll beat that number easily.

Isn't our official policy to stick our fingers in our ears and scream la-la-la if the information comes from the World anything?
