Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

It appears that President Donald Trumps State Department, led by Marco Rubio, expects to pay $400 million for some kind of "armored" Tesla vehicles. But don't worry - Musk, now a special government employee for Trump, has assured the public that potential conflicts of interest as he unilaterally decides where government funds are directed will not be an issue.

Damn! Herr Musk about doubled his investment in Trump's campaign... which is the way real bidness is run these days.

It only makes sense that the Richest Guy should own the President.

On Tuesday, Trump said he's not worried about potential conflicts of interest arising out of Musk's role overseeing agencies that provide his companies huge contracts. "If we thought that, we would not let him do that segment or look in that area, if we thought there was a lack of transparency or a conflict of interest," said Trump, adding: "He's a big businessman. He's a successful guy. That's why we want him doing this."
See? No problemo.

Thanks for alleviating my worries that Trump and Musk are planning on looting the nation.

Do Tesla drive trains even have the power to move an armored vehicle at any significant rate of speed for a reliable amount of time? Having a battery die mid escape would be..ummm...bad. Not to mention the effects of an attacker managing to damage or puncture a battery?

It's also my understanding that current armored vehicles used for POTUS are powered by V8 diesel engines.

If I'm not mistaken I recall Biden signing an EO switching the entire government fleet to EV's. Trump should rescind that but you all can't have it both ways.

The issue isn't the switch. The issue is the contract going to the one currently being allowed to illegally cut congressional approved funding.

And you are mistaken as usual.

The EO was about buying goods that were more than merely 50% made in America.

Biden said he planned to begin switching the Feds to EVs but it wasn't part of any EO.

This was Biden's budget.

"Reports late Wednesday showed the U.S. State Department's procurement forecast for 2025 included a $400 million line item titled "Armored Tesla (Production Units)." It's a five-year contract with deliveries set to begin in Q4.

The State Department claims the procurement forecast update occurred in December, making it Biden administration work and not yet under the Trump administration.

The line item, reported by Electrek and others online, was edited to remove the mention of Tesla about six hours after it became public, to simply say "armored Electric Vehicles."

It was in December last year, raetard. Unless you're saying Trump had a hand in Biden's spending before he took office....
