"President Trump, furious about delays in delivering two new Air Force One jets, has empowered Elon Musk to explore drastic options to prod Boeing to move faster, including relaxing security clearance standards for some who work on the presidential planes," the New York Times reports. "His administration has even discussed whether a luxury jet could be acquired and refitted during the wait."

The so-called President of the United States wants his bottle and he wants it now.

Ah, not to quibble, but what are the actual hours logged on the air frames of the current iterations? Perhaps its just my old age creeping up on me, but didn't King Trump take possession of a new AF1 during his last administration? And how many thoughtlessly fired federal workers will it take to pay for these arguably unnecessary new replacements?

No, he didn't. What he did do was force a new "deal" on Boeing that made them not worth building. The current planes are about 30 years old.

Ah...as I suspected, old age and a over-crowded memory hole. Thanks for the correction, Mr. Redial.

How many Billions do you think 3 AirForce one planes should cost?

Why shouldn't Boeing eat anything over their initial estimate? Right not the 3 planes are coming in at $5.1Billion dollars.

Biden change the livery to some Ukraine homage.
Trump changed the livery to some flag thing.

I really like the original design, Make AirForceOne Great Again!

Yeah its just $4Billion dollars, whats that 0.01% of the federal budget?

Are federal workers working on this? Reading about the MAX fiasco, Boeing has its own "internal" FAA, meaning it doesn't report to the FAA like I do.

I have to send all airframe changes to the FAA via a 337, where it gets recorded. Boeing can just make its own paperwork trail.

@#4 ... What he did do was force a new "deal" on Boeing that made them not worth building. ...

Sounds like something Pres Trump would do.

A transaction to benefit him.

With little regard of the possible long-term effects of that transaction.

Our entire foreign humanitarian aid is 1% of our budget. The fact it didn't make your cherry picked 'who gives a crap' meter is as predictable as Sunrise.

U.S. foreign aid went toward:

Disaster relief and other humanitarian aid ($15.6 billion, or 21.7% of total aid disbursements in fiscal 2023)

Efforts to solve the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS ($10.6 billion, or 14.7%)

Combatting "pandemic influenza" and other emerging public health threats ($1.5 billion, or 2.0%)

Promoting democracy, good governance and the rule of law ($2.3 billion, or 3.2%)

"Multi-sector" programs that crossed several subject areas ($2.9 billion, or 4.0%)

Ukraine was the single-biggest recipient of U.S. aid in fiscal 2023, receiving $16.6 billion to help it fend off Russia's invasion and keep its government and society running. Israel, regularly one of the top aid recipients, got $3.3 billion in military aid in fiscal 2023, on par with recent years. Other major recipients included Ethiopia, Jordan, Egypt and Afghanistan.

I see how you avoid the question, what made it unprofitable?

How much should AF1 cost?

1. I have never seen you post before.

My guess is this is what people here call a sock puppet.

2. The assertion was sarcasm.

3. What is you point exactly?

"empowered Elon Musk to explore drastic options to prod Boeing to move faster"

Skip the door plug checks, that will speed things along.

Trump doesn't do jack shit for work, he phones it in from the golf course or tweets it from his bed at 2am. I'm sure he's back to his old routine of a full diet of FOX before doing anything the days he's actually at his office. Which usually includes promoting his latest completely unqualified hire with the only qualification that matters is undying obedience to their king.

I have been there. I was the senior doc on a medical team in Haiti, 6 months after the earthquake. I took leave and volunteered in Petionville at a 50,000 person refugee camp. It was desperate. No one was swimming in cash. We stayed in tents within a larger medical tent. Our clinic and ER was horrible in the heat. But it was all people had. To think that you'd just shut it off in one day is completely heartless.

I've actually had an account and posted here for years. I've responded to you on more than one occasion.

But it's not surprising your self-centered myopic attention span probably only encompasses your next response to a headline on an article you'll never read.

Nor is it surprising you'd come to a stupid conclusion based on said lack of attention.

You could spent about 30 seconds and click on my username and see my long posting history. But your lack of fact checking anything is just par for the course for an idiot like yourself.

yeah.

Boeing is going through some quality of aircraft issues of late (understatement).

So, I ave to ask, is asking Boeing to speed up the delivery process A Good Thing?

I'm all for this. And more. Get rid of the QA inspectors. Treat the Presidential Air Force plan manufacturing, software, electronics, avionics like Musk is treating the Federal Government. Fire people left and right, bleed the ones left, do sway with expensive testing, and make sure Trump's on the first flight of the new and improved plane. Please.

3. What is you point exactly?

If you couldn't figure it out, my point was you don't seem at all perturbed about any expenditure related to Trump but probably rejoiced at the gutting of USAID. Neither of which take a significant part of the budget.

Christ, do I need to break the crayons and draw visuals like Trump gets for you?

"Ukraine was the single-biggest recipient of U.S. aid in fiscal 2023, receiving $16.6 billion"

Just to give you some perspective on how much that is:
Health care spending in 2023 was $4.9 trillion or $14,570 per person.
And Ukraine spending was about... fifty bucks a person.

Give him the one that wasn't tested.

Hopefully it will crash bigly.
