"Ukraine agreed to a U.S. proposal back in March. Russia has, to date, not inked its consent.

Ukrainian officials and international observers have watched Trump engineer a rapprochement with the Kremlin, the White House looking reluctant to impose sanctions on Russia even as Trump publicly floated a feeling that Russia was "tapping" the American negotiators along.

Trump is "is evading " he is dodging " the need to impose sanctions on Russia," Merezhko said."

This one will really cause him to throw ketchup laden burgers at the gold plated ceiling.

So it was a pay to play scheme instead of a meritorious nomination.

Paying is meritorious in its own right.

For example, paying five mil gets you a United States passport.

Do I get free Trump phone(y) with that?

More from the cited article ...

... A senior Ukrainian lawmaker who nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize has withdrawn it, as peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow slip under the radar and the president keeps his sights fixed on the Middle East.

Oleksandr Merezhko, the head of Ukraine's parliamentary foreign committee, told Newsweek on Tuesday he had "lost any sort of faith and belief" in Trump and his ability to secure a ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv. ...

@#7

My first question to Mr Merezhko might be along the lines of ...

What did he actually expect from Pres Putin's apparent sock puppet?

What did he actually expect from Pres Putin's apparent sock puppet?

Money from the US Treasury. Most world leaders know if they want cash from the US government the only way is to bite the bullet and kiss Lewzer's ass. Preferably publicly. Did you see the NATO chief today? Gad. Pathetic.

Trump should focus on bringing peace to America.

@#11 ... Trump should focus on bringing peace to America. ...

Not gonna happen.

Pres Trump appears to energize his supporters by sowing threats and violence against those who oppose him.

Why would he ever give that up?

I was mocking his apparent need for a noble peace prize while at the same time waging war against Americans.

It was in jest.

The liberla run Nobel committee would never give a Republican, let alone Trump, the Nobel Peace Prize, yet o problem giving one to obama who had accomplished nothing with the exception of being liberal.

Back in 1974, when they give the prize to Yasser Arafat, proved, back then, that the prize had become a leftist joke and continues to be on to this day.

That's just wrong.

With Lewzer out of the running maybe Elon will win? That would be really funny, albeit not likely.

@#14 ... The liberla run Nobel committee would never give a Republican, let alone Trump, the Nobel Peace Prize ...

Henry Kissinger - 1973

Teddy Roosevelt - 1906

etc.

But maybe, instead of asking that specific question, the question to be asked is ...

Why haven't Republicans won more Nobel Peace Prizes?

Maybe because Republicans seem to start wars, and Democrats seem to end wars?

Asked from a different angle, and one that I have protested against back in the day ...

Was it a Democrat or a Republican that dragged the US into the failed Vietnam War?

Dwight D. Eisenhower
en.wikipedia.org

... His administration provided aid to help the French try to fight Vietnamese Communists in the First Indochina War. After the French left, he gave strong financial support to the new state of South Vietnam. ...

It wasn't 1974.

A Pistol and an Olive Branch

In 1974, Yasser Arafat addressed the UN General Assembly. He said he was holding an olive branch for peace in one hand and a freedom fighter's pistol in the other. Twenty years later he and the Israeli leaders Peres and Rabin received the Peace Prize for having opted for the olive branch by signing the so-called Oslo Accords in Washington. The agreement was aimed at reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
