After the Washington Post reported that the U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika as a symbol of hate, the Coast Guard indicated that the swastika would remain considered a symbol of hate, the Post reported

Update: The U.S. Coast Guard reversed course, saying the swastika and noose were indeed hate symbols that are prohibited. This came hours after The Post reported that the service was about to enact a new policy that downgraded those symbols.

If you live in the US and a swastika does not register on your radar as an offensive symbol of hate you should consider getting up to speed, fast, or being identified as a fool, Nazi fetishizing bozo, or both.

Anyway I saw where the Coast Guard was walking this back; saying they didn't actually do this change.

The misuse of the swastika by the Nazis was cultural appropriation at its worst, and it should be recognized as such instead of gifting them a symbol that is still used by billions of people around the world in other contexts. It's like associating all of Islam with the terrorists who committed atrocities using its symbols.
