'Step aside so you won't get hurt': Iran to US as it readies attack on Israel for strike in Syria
www.indiatvnews.com

... In a post on X, Mohammed Jamshidi, the Iranian president's deputy chief of staff for political affairs, said that Iran has "warned the US to not get dragged in Netanyahu's trip", referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Stay away so you won't get hurt. In response US asked Iran not to target American facilities," he added. ...

We should step aside and let Iran get some payback. Not a fan of Iran, but Israel has been overstepping recently.

That's the absolute last thing Iran should do. No matter what my position is on any of this, Iran is nothing more than fodder when it comes to attacking Israel. It would take a matter of seconds for Israel to turn Iran into a skating rink.

The only game changer would be other countries getting involved on behalf of Iran and I highly doubt that would happen.

BTW, while you and the rest of your Libbie friends are cheering on Iran, they still execute people for being gay.

"Currently, Iran is the only country confirmed to execute gay people federally, though death penalty for homosexuality might be enacted in Afghanistan"

I clearly said I didn't like Iran, but if they want to take a shot at Israel, It isn't something I oppose. Israel and Iran are two countries that the world would be better without. Let them flatten each other.

The Israeli punishment for being a Palestinian baby is lifelong oppression, humiliation, psychological torture and oftentimes, death.

Judge by what they do, not by what they say.

"It would take a matter of seconds for Israel to turn Iran into a skating rink."

Parts of Iran, yes. But not all. Within hours, 100,000 missiles and rockets would be launched toward Tel Aviv and other populated areas and within a few hours the death-or-glory faction of Hezbollah would be in Israel proper, executing civilians and IDF (who are only really good at slaughtering babies, children old men and women) left and right. I don't think that is a really wise endgame to play for.

Also I thought Israel had neutron bombs since fallout would be problematic when nukes are used defensively.

In other words, no glass.

What should the US response be if Iran chooses to hit US targets?

"What should the US response be if Iran chooses to hit US targets"

They won't, unless you are one of those that deem any Israeli target as a US target by proxy-- they might as well be; most of the weapons used in the ongoing Palestinian genocide (including the state of Israel itself), are American-made.

#14 | Posted by pumpkinhead at 2024-04-06 10:49 PM | Reply

I agree. They won't hit anything flying the US flag. Proxies are a whole different thing.

You're kidding yourself. The entire West will rush to aid Israel. Even if they didn't, Iran is not even a challenge for them. Israel is armed by the USA.

Well of course (your tiresome purple and pinkwashing aside), that's how highly nationalist countries solely focused on self-preservation roll. Take away the extremist Zionist supremacist ideology from the region and the US and Iran likely ease into a detente regarding past differences, the Mullahs are ousted by their own people, and Iran becomes a more moderate, cool, but cooperating ally against Russia.

You are making a mistake if you think Iran has a second rate military. Do your homework. Iran is a very powerful, dangerous country and their military is dangerous to the nth degree. You have the internet. Look it up.

@#20 ... Iran is a very powerful, dangerous country and their military is dangerous to the nth degree. ...

I'm not yet convinced about that "nth degree" aspect.

Yeah, Iran has many surrogate militarizes.

Just look at what it seemed to prompt Hamas to do on October 7, 2023, apparently because of peace talks in the area.

Probably not much difference between Fetterman and whoever his Republican opponent is on this issue.

I doubt a Democrat primary opponent will win by waving the Palestinian flag in Pennsylvania.

#21 | POSTED BY LAMPLIGHTER

That isn't why. Oct 7 wasn't a response to external current events, it has it roots in the Palestinian Intifada tradition. Now you could argue the Palestinian Intifada tradition is buttressed by Iranian logistical orchestration. But I still think the timing is more of a coincidence than a cause.

"Soon after the 2021 Israel"Palestine crisis exploded, the Al-Qassam Brigades started planning the 7 October 2023 operation."

@#30 ...That isn't why ...

I remain to be convinced of that.

My current view is that Iran was concerned (frightened) about the peace negotiations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, and that iran needed to derail those negotiations.

Which they did via their surrogate Hamas attack on October 7.

To me, currently, that blatant explanation seems to hold fort more than the more subtle attempts of other explanations.

But as always, to channel Alf, I'm all ears....

#36 | Posted by snoofy at 2024-04-07 02:03 PM | Reply

Targeting an embassy sure seems like an act of war to me.

Does anyone disagree with that?

Since the end of the Second World War, diplomatic missions around the world have been attacked at least 800 times, according to data compiled by Prof Gabor Kajtar at Eotvos Lorand University in Hungary. Until Israeli jets apparently fired missiles at an Iranian consular building in the Syrian capital on Monday, killing at least 11 people, none of those attacks were initiated directly and intentionally by a country that was not at war with the one it attacked.
