A new Microsoft generative AI system has highlighted how advanced deepfake technology is becoming - generating convincing video from a single image and audio clip. The tool takes an image and turns it into a realistic video, along with convincing emotions and movements such as eyebrows raising.

Inevitable. And ugly. You want to make a fake porn video of you having hardcore sex with a co-worker you will be able to do it convincingly within five years. You want to frame a political opponent as pedophile, you will be able to do it. Sounds like the rightwingers on the Nooner will have a new favorite website.

That was really amazing. After a little while I could see flaws, but it's incredibly detailed and could easily fool most people most of the time.
