National Institutes of Health officials have urged scientists to remove all references to mRNA vaccine technology from their grant applications, two researchers said, in a move that signaled the agency might abandon a promising field of medical research.

This is insane. Arguably the greatest achievement of the first Trump administration was Operation Warp Speed. And mRNA technology has tremendous potential. Recall recent news that mRNA vaccines show promise against pancreatic cancer in early trials www.nbcnews.com/health/cance ...

Trump/MAGA/Putin disgusts me.

There's no sane point to this.

Trump enjoys making people suffer, and he enjoys being the cause of their deaths.

It's the sensation of personal power that feeds his insanity.

Trump green-lighted the development of a mRNA vaccine for COVID.

So does this mean all references to Operation Warp Speed have to be removed?

simply rename it peptide/protein encoding nucleic acid (PENA) technology and they won't know it's the same thing.

Trump once again covers his eyes and ears to truth, to history, to science. Just as he did with Covid when it first appeared, with "DEI" aspects of Iwo Jima and Arlington, and on down the line, he thinks if you don't talk about it, your problems are solved.

Everything he does takes America backward. He's turning us into a Third World country.

The dumbing down of America continues...

And when other nations start to make breakthroughs in this area, who will Trump blame?

Oh well, we almost had a cure for cancer. Seems like some people want it to exist because of ideology.

America is better off when some other country funds research to monetize and commercialize the cure for cancer!

Think about it people, there's far more money to be made in treating cancer compared to simply making it go away, so an outright cure is a bad investment for the American people.

Much better for the American people to have incurable cancers, they can still get a little treatment, and more importantly, serve as a source of revenue until they die from cancer we didn't invest in curing.

There is an orchestrated effort by Trump to make America sicker, poorer, less secure, less influential and more divided. Who benefits?

If these American oligarchs think that they are protecting their business interests they should read up on the fate of some of the Russian oligarchs.

Ive been saying for a few years that the republicans would turn the US into a failed state.

I had always hoped i was just being hyperbolic, but it doesn't appear to be the case.

Me too, but nope. Trump is destroying America. Utterly and completely. We don't have much time to save it - or to have a chance of saving it.

Trump and his band of cohorts are absolute scum and traitors to the oath they took to uphold the Constitution.

"Go blow a trucker you phony doctor."

Hmm.
Phony doctors, blowing big manly truckers.
Is that a sign of a Winning State, or a Failed State?
Corky, you were a trucker. Help me out!

The quote sounds like projection of unmet personal desires. Just sayin'.

I don't know who said it because they are killfiled, but they should seek help somewhere besides parking lots.

We don't have much time to save it - or to have a chance of saving it.

Nope.

And their rhetoric is slowly ratcheting up in intensity, lately suggesting that the usual checks and balances are the judiciary "playing President."

They're simply trying to *poof* an all powerful POTUS into being by just acting like it's so.

The courts have proven incapable of restraining it because ultimately their decisions depend on the good faith actions of those they're ruling on. They have no teeth when those being ruled against simply say "f(*& you, try me."

It's increasingly likely that the only thing that's going to "save it," or at least slow the progression, is enough of the military finally saying enough is enough and it's time to fulfill their oath to the Constitution.

But that opens an entirely new set of problems whose only solution is to keep your foot on the gas and take it to the bitter end, whichever end that may be. Either way, we're likely in for some level of civil strife or, at the very least, desperation turning to widespread violence.

I also hoped that my previous urging to buy a means to protect yourself and your loved ones along with sufficient ammo and supplies to be self-sufficient for at least several weeks was mere hyperbole. I'm afraid that's also not turning out to be the case.

Tell me about it. I've been diagnosed with stage-four prostate cancer. There is no cure and it's inoperable, but it can be treated with a drug regimen, a combination of injections every six-months and an oral medication that I have to take daily. The injection, which is a hormone suppressant, costs $3,700/injection, but it's covered 100% by my Medicare Part B. The oral medication, four tablets which I have to take every morning, costs $17,900/month. Now we have Medicare Part D, which this year caps my out-of-pocket maximum expenditure at $2,000, so it's not as bad as it sounds (if Musk/Trump doesn't screw it up that is). So far, it appears that the treatment has been effective (I've been on this course of treatment since this past October) and the prognosis looks good for the near future, at least for the next three to five-years, which by then there might be more effective treatments, if you can pay for them that is.
