Turning over the country to "a nonwhite majority," Damsky wrote, would constitute a "terrible crime." White people, he warned, "cannot be expected to meekly swallow this demographic assault on their sovereignty.

Damsky, in an interview, said that referring to him as a Nazi "would not be manifestly wrong"

@#3 ... (anyone want to bet on who gave him the award?) ...

No need to guess ...

From the cited article ...

... The award for the paper was given to Damsky by Federal Judge John L. Badalamenti, a Trump administration appointee ...

More on Judge Badalamenti

John Badalamenti
en.wikipedia.org

... John Leonard Badalamenti (born August 22, 1973)[1] is an American lawyer and jurist serving as a United States district judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

He was appointed in 2020 by President Donald Trump. He previously served as a judge on the Florida Second District Court of Appeal from 2015 to 2020. ...

While teaching a seminar on originalism as an adjunct at University of Florida School of Law in the fall of 2024, Badalamenti gave an award to a student paper arguing that the Constitution of the United States favors white people, an award which is "automatically given to the student with the highest score" and that "sounds more prestigious than it is."[9][10]

In spring of 2025, the author of that paper, Preston Damksy, publicly called for Jewish people to be "abolished by any means necessary."[11] ...

Well now. He's obviously correct about that. Technically he doesn't go far enough though, because people only means men. Women were chattel property back then, and still are if you ask some Republicans.

From the article:

"This book award' was presented automatically to the student with the top grade in the course, which creates a false impression of endorsement of the student's work. We hope the administrators will take time to review this policy moving forward," the statement continued.

Also from the article:

In a statement, the University of Florida Hillel condemned Damsky's rhetoric and said that they hoped the school's administration would review the policy that allowed him to receive the award for his paper.

"There is no place at UF for this type of hateful rhetoric. We are grateful that the university responded by suspending the student, barring him from campus, increasing police presence around the law school, and initiating disciplinary proceedings aimed at expulsion," the statement read.

#9 LauraMohr, the student, according to the article, is suspended, barred from campus, and on the way to expulsion because of the disgusting rhetoric he espoused. And the award was an automatic thing based on having the top grade in the course itself, and was not awarded based on the content of the student's writing.

That info is towards the bottom of the article.

That's good. Thanks for letting me know that. I appreciate it greatly.

This book award' was presented automatically to the student with the top grade in the course,

Someone gave him the grade, right?

It wasn't just random.

It is a convenient excuse.

But it's nothing more than an excuse to save face in light of public scrutiny.

I'm repulsed by what he wrote. I also think the punishment is way over the top and if it's a public university it might violate this little d-bag's 1A rights.

#12 Clownshack, Well, bear in mind that according to the article, 1 in 5 students there are Jewish, and that antisemitism isn't going to fly, I would imagine. So I don't know that it would only be from public scrutiny...I could be wrong, and I often am of course.

From the article:

The University of Florida has the highest number of Jewish undergraduate students of any public university in the country, with a population of 6,500 Jewish students, or 19 percent of the student body, according to Hillel International.

Kinda stupid place for a white nationalist to be.......but then again, ANYWHERE is a stupid place for a white nationalist to be. Course ... stupidity is most white nationalists middle name.

of COURSE it was at --, the state's worst and most corrupt university.

And the award was an automatic thing based on having the top grade in the course itself,
65% of the grade is based on the grade on the paper he wrote. The grade determined by the MAGA judge. If you're familiar with circular logic, you should get a clue as to how this worked out.

I'm repulsed by what he wrote. I also think the punishment is way over the top and if it's a public university it might violate this little d-bag's 1A rights.

He wasn't dismissed for what he wrote in his paper. He was awarded for that. He was expelled for rhetoric on his social media calling for the extermination of all Jews, no matter what method, along with other statements. Given your objection, can we assume that you're now 100% OK with all the protests for and by Palestinians and the cessation of any deportation for them protesting?

"Actual history lessons about racism are censored while opinions promoting racism are celebrated. It doesn't get much clearer than that." - Scott Maxwell, Orlando Sentinel - summing up the state of Education, MAGA, the GOP, and Florida.
