Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced she will hand out hundreds of thousands of dollars to migrants affected by the recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Bass, 71, said the money will be distributed via cash cards that are loaded with a 'couple hundred' dollars on it. The program is expected to start its rollout in a week, the Democrat leader said. 'You have people who don't want to leave their homes, who are not going to work,' she said of migrants who fear ICE. 'They are in need of cash.'

"a 'couple hundred' dollars"

LOL
That's less than Trump is offering illegal immigrants!

Gets laughed at.

How pathetic.

Speaking of Los Angeles.

How is it the federal government sent more troops to disrupt Los Angeles than to help flood victims in Texas?

Texas spent over $221 million on its migrant busing to sanctuary cities program ...

Florida's total budget for migrant transportation to sanctuary cities was $22 million ...

Not a peep from Bozo about spending taxpayer money when that happens.

Hypocrite much?

How much did Texas spend on flood prevention and emergency warning systems?

No hypocrite here. You people are funny.

Democrats are giving tax payer money to people who are not taxpayers.

The American people are tired of that. That's why Trump is President.

Trump is president because people like you chose a convicted felon and rapist, over a woman.

Because you hate women, especially Black women.

What were the states supposed to do? Put them on the public dole for $100M a year forever?

Seems like they were proactive in saving money long term.

The issue is not that its taxpayer money, but that its illegal to aide and abet an illegal immigrant. Much like its illegal to directly feed or give water to illegal immigrants that cross the border.

To leave, how can you miss the salient part of the request?

Maybe in Texas.

Giving water to an undocumented immigrant, especially in a life-threatening situation like dehydration in the desert, is generally not illegal and falls under the category of providing humanitarian aid.

You remember humanitarian aid?

Think hard. You remember! It was a very common and accepted practice in America ... BT.

Before Trumpy.

What were the states supposed to do?

Thus is lost on Xenophobes, like our dake chines contributor, OneTrumper, but:

"In 2022, approximately 1.9 million undocumented Texans paid an estimated $4.9 billion in state and local taxes, reports the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP)."

itep.org

Hey, OneFake, is $4.9 billion enough for undocumented immigrants to be helping the state's economy?

In Texas, undocumented immigrants have an average effective state and local tax rate of 8.9%, which is higher than the average rate paid by the wealthiest 1% of Texans (4.6%), according to ITEP.

everytexan.org

Hey, OneTrumpingMoron, looks like undocumented immigrants aren't paying more taxes than the wealthiest of Texans.

The sad fact is, a lot of America's dumbest people seems to have been brainwashed by the billionaires to blindly support them.

What hateful idiots republicans are.

Here is a great money saving idea.

Stop the illegal raids!

Seems like they were proactive in saving money long term.

Republican Math.

It is conservatively estimated that over a period of 10.6 years to remove all 13.3 million targeted immigrants (assuming a 20% voluntary departure rate), the total cost is estimated to be $967.9 billion.

So. A trillion dollars.

Re 15

And that does NOT include the costs to our economy.

#16 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-07-13 12:21 PM | Reply

Republican Voters are the biggest idiots in America.

ICE is costing Americans $179 BILLION.

$179 BILLION to kick people out of the country who pay more taxes than the billionaires do.

www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org

Why are republicans so beholden to billionaires who couldn't care less about them?

Here is a great money saving idea.

Stop the illegal raids!

Here's an even BETTER idea!

STOP COMING HERE ILLEGALLY!!! That way there wont have to be any illegal lawful raids to remove law breakers from our nation.

Deal?

Here's and even BETTER IDEA THAN THAT!

Arrest the people hiring undocumented workers. Problem solved.

Why isn't Trump doing that?

#19 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2025-07-14 03:21 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

@#18 ... STOP COMING HERE ILLEGALLY!!! ...

... and what about all those that come here legally, seeking asylum?

That aside ...

I will cite, once again, the web page of the CBP Union that Trump 1.0 apparently demanded be taken down...

An excerpt from the Border Patrol Union webpage that was deleted during fmr Pres Trump's term:
web.archive.org

  • Walls and fences are temporary solutions that focus on the symptom (illegal immigration) rather than the problem (employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens).

  • Walls and fences are only a speed bump. People who want to come to the United States to obtain employment will continue to go over, under, and around the walls and fences that are constructed.

  • Walls and fences will undoubtedly result in an increase in fraudulent documents and smuggling through the Ports of Entry.

  • Walls and fences do not solve the issue of people entering the country legally and staying beyond the date they are required to leave the country, a problem which will undoubtedly increase as more walls and fences are constructed.
