"I (have) the right to do anything that I want to do. I'm the president of the United States. If I think our country's in danger -- and it is in danger in these cities " I can do it," Trump said during a Cabinet meeting Tuesday. This is consistent with the president's long-held view that there are few constraints on a president and that his authority is almost absolute.

"Trump is no stranger to using the time it takes for cases to work through the courts to advance his political goals.

For example, by the time dismissed bureaucrats working for USAID were able to legally challenge him, Trump had eviscerated their agency.

And as he fought four criminal indictments as a presidential candidate, he filed countless and often frivolous procedural motions to slow court action and run out the accountability clock over his attempt to steal the 2020 election.

Now that he's back in power, his administration is using the legal system to settle scores."

"Any person who defies him is viewed not as an intellectual adversary but as a vicious opponent," Ty Cobb, who served for a time as a White House lawyer in Trump's first term, told CNN's Erin Burnett.

"Anything that he can do to wreak vengeance, obviously, makes him very happy, just like expanding his power, makes him very happy."

Cobb added, "I think this is something that Americans need to look at seriously because this cannot be what people in the country voted for in terms of honor, virtue and the rule of law."

"Separation of Powers in Action - U.S. v. Alvarez

The U.S. Constitution establishes three separate but equal branches of government: the legislative branch (makes the law), the executive branch (enforces the law), and the judicial branch (interprets the law).

The Framers structured the government in this way to prevent one branch of government from becoming too powerful, and to create a system of checks and balances."

Trump is doing all 3... and with almost 40 percent approval the People.

Remember when we were told it was just melodramatic nonsense to say this about Trump?

"When someone is President of the United States, the authority is total, and that is the way it has to be. It's total. It's total."

it's one year and two months to the midterm. And less 24 months after that for early voting in the
general. Trump is running out of time and his former tailwinds are slowly starting to doubt voting for him in 2024.

He picked a very bad time to start messing with tariffs which, in spite of his lies, are raising prices dramatically.

The U.S. Supreme Court may save him from himself by refusing to hear his appeal but messy as that will become, it's just the tip of the iceberg.

The more desperate Trump becomes, the more dangerous he is.

And nobody knows IF or when the U.S. Supreme Court will reach its breaking point.

Yup. Most of the time, presidents take blame for things that really weren't their fault. Increased prices on consumers goods are due solely to Donald J. Trump's policies. You could also blame him for the devaluation of the dollar, but that's really more due to a loss of global confidence in the USD than a specific policy that was designed to devalue the dollar. That said, before he won the election, Trump had outlined a policy to devalue the dollar in the hopes that it would make US goods and services more attractive to foreign customers. Truth be told, the US would likely be awash with European tourists this summer if it weren't for policy discouraging tourism. It's still pretty bad though. International flights are still packed to the gills.
