President Donald Trump's deployment of warships and thousands of Marines and sailors off the coast of Venezuela has put a spotlight back on the United States' relations with its own hemisphere -- and revived for some in the region anxious memories of a militaristic Uncle Sam.

... Like Mr. Trump's earlier threats to take back the Panama Canal, the dispatching last week of forces near what the administration considers a terrorist narco-state has raised a raft of still-unanswered questions about a mercurial president's intentions.

Is the show of force aimed at cowing Venezuela's embattled President Nicols Maduro into further cooperation with the U.S. on immigration matters and tackling the region's drug cartels and Venezuela's trafficking gangs? ...

The presence of US warships off the coast of a country is not something to be taken lightly.

Why did Pres Trump take this action?

The Venezuelan government mobilized their people's militia in response to Dummkopf's Trumpf's naval armada: drudge.com

Nobel Peace Prize aspirant Dotard Trumpf wants to rename the DOD to the Department of War, gets his spies caught in Greenland scoping out a potential takeover, can't rein in Vladimir Putin or Benjamin Netanyahu because they have kompramat on him, has now authorized the military to target international drug cartels.

US builds up forces in Caribbean as officials, experts, ask why
www.reuters.com

... A large buildup of U.S. naval forces in and around the Southern Caribbean has officials in Caracas and experts in the United States asking: is the move aimed at combating drug cartels, as the Trump administration has suggested, or is it for something else entirely?

Seven U.S. warships, along with one nuclear-powered fast attack submarine, are either in the region or are expected to be there soon, bringing along more than 4,500 sailors and marines. ...

"has raised a raft of still-unanswered questions about a mercurial president"

Mercurial isn't the word I would use at this stage of his mental health. Although Dementia does sometimes bring out the worst in certain types (shall we say) of people.

The Bolivarian Militia of Venezuela (BMV) is mobilizing for Nobel Peace Prize aspirant Dummkopf Trumpf's armada. Wiki reports the BMV has over four million militia personnel. This photo reminds me of the Ukrainian military instructing their civilians to fight Russian invaders.

Remarkably, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) convenes in NYC next month, but Russia and Israel are blithely increasing their attacks on defenseless targets while the US seems to be on the verge of military adventurism in South America. I guess pariahs don't care that they are pariahs.

Have fun at the UN, lepers.

Ironic considering the last time the republicl0wns insisted on installing a senile sock-puppet to run the country... we put the now targeted drug cartels in place to... erm.... uhhh... "self-finance" the destruction of communism... spare the taxpayer...or something silly like that...

it made more sense with voodoo economics in place and all... capitalism... the magic of "lazy fairies" n stuff...anyhooooooo... here we are 4 decades later...

I have long suspected, when all is done, that Putin and Trump plan to split their power bases into hemispheres.

Venezuela, as well as all of South America, is slated to be in the hemisphere Trump controls.

Trump also has his eye on the Panama Canal which, as we know, is vital to controlling economies.

There is another way to put a cork on the aggression of both Trump and Putin. But it will take the voters rising up to take control of both houses of congress in the midterms.

It's called ARTICLE 25

Then boot Vance down the garbage chute if he dares raise his head in 2028.

Yall will be lucky to win anything in 2026.

And the "voters" already rose up and took control of both houses of congress. In 2024.
