The leader of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an organization that fights antisemitism, is explaining his group's decision to set up a special project to monitor Zohran Mamdani, the mayor-elect of New York City.

In a nutshell, why the Democrats lost nationally in 2024 but Zohran Mamdani won in NYC this week:

POTUS Joe Biden upon hearing that the ICC indicted Vladimir Putin for war crimes (BBC, 18 Mar 2023): "He's clearly committed war crimes."

POTUS Joe Biden upon hearing that the ICC indicted Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes (BBC, 22 Nov 2024): "That's outrageous!"

Democratic Presidential candidate "Kamala Harris will not support an arms embargo on Israel, her national security adviser says, a day after she was heckled by pro-Palestinian protesters at a rally in Detroit.

Q: Why should Zohran Mamdani be scrutinized any more or less than any other elected official? And how should this mild-mannered man "act?"

A: Because he is Muslim, nothing more, nothing less and a thorn in the side of AIPAC. Zohran's platform is no more incendiary or dangerous than Bernie Sander's or Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC who calls himself a "European Socialist." Lawrence O'Donnell worked for Democratic Party luminaries his whole career.

Endnote: Like the late author E.L. Doctorow, former Congressman Alan Grayson, and myself, Zohran Mamdani graduated the Bronx HS of Science.
