Ah, a story about actual Jesus-esque Christians and not white nationalist MAGAnites.

That's refreshing, thanks Rogers!

Faith leaders performed a crucial role in the Civil Rights Revolution the Republicans are now hell-bent on reversing. They were also involved in Vietnam War opposition. I think what they do in general is broaden the field for discussion and involvement, provide a permission structure.

I'll wager that the turnout of black pastors in Charlotte will be noticeable in a few days. I'll also wager that any ICE creeps handling a black minister like that seen in Chicago will result in a large group of older black women swinging their purses and ending up in jail. Then the game will be on, when African Americans find out what they are losing in their previous support for Der Dotard ...

The problem here is that "faith leaders" who support this TrumpTrash appear to far outnumber those speaking out against it.

Only about 38 percent of people here have college degrees, and they mostly vote Dem... which is why Republicans hate education.

And their Base reflects that.

Trump's only true skill is the con; his only fundamental belief is that the United States is the birthright of straight, white, Christian men, and his only real, authentic pleasure is in cruelty. It is that cruelty, and the delight it brings them, that binds his most ardent supporters to him, in shared scorn for those they hate and fear: immigrants, black voters, feminists, and treasonous white men who empathize with any of those who would steal their birthright. The president's ability to execute that cruelty through word and deed makes them euphoric. It makes them feel good, it makes them feel proud, it makes them feel happy, it makes them feel united. And as long as he makes them feel that way, they will let him get away with anything, no matter what it costs them.
