Calls to Mental Health Hotlines Rise as Farmers Buckle Under Stress
As farmers face historic headwinds and market hardships, calls to the national Farm Aid hotline and the Iowa Concern hotline -- where farmers can get support in times of mental health crisis or need -- are increasing.

"This fall, the Iowa Concern hotline saw four to five times the number of calls it had in the same months last year, said Tammy Jacobs, the hotline's manager."
Farmers are smart enough to use a telephone?
But dumb enough to vote for their own economic suicide?
Okay.

Well, we all know how to end this problem: Close down the hotline.
That'll drop complaints to zero!

Old Mac Donald had a farmer, EIEI... oh!
Mushroom up the farmers' collective butts.
How long are GOP Congress Critters going to watch this Blue Wave grow before they freak out and quit? Or is that already happening?

After the end of brutal slavery in America, Reconstruction, and the work of the Freedmen's Bureau, in 2025 there are only ~40,000 Black farmers in the US (less than two percent of all American farmers).
So much for land reform in our democracy.
White farmers had generations to make and save money for themselves or sell their profitable lands to mega agri-corporations.
Ironically, it was a Man of Color named George Washington Carver who promoted crop rotation to help these majority white farmers who we are supposed to feel sorry for today because they are enduring hardships after voting for a white supremacist oligarch on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024.

At least $20 billion for Argentina, and as little as possible for US farmers... and only when forced to do so.

Farmers voted against their own self interests when they supported Trump. But they are almost all from Red States where blind obedience to the GOP is expected of them. Only now are they beginning to fully realize just completely they have screwed themselves.

Just wait until the BBB calcifies, the rural hospitals start closing, and no more ACA subsidies.
Republican voters sank us all, but they will be the first ones to drown.
I'm glad MAGAts all supported tax cuts for the zillionaires.

@#18 ... Just wait until the BBB calcifies, the rural hospitals start closing, and no more ACA subsidies. ...
That is already starting to effect the farmers, and other rural Americans.
But the tariffs have been hitting the manufacturers of farm equipment ...
Deere Got Hit by Tariffs... finance.yahoo.com
... Tariffs on steel and aluminum have once again sparked tension across U.S. manufacturing throughout 2025. President Trump's 25% duties on metals and global imports have raised costs for equipment makers nationwide. Farm machinery manufacturers face some of the steepest exposure, with higher input prices squeezing margins. The result is billions in added costs that are already flowing through to producers, dealers, and ultimately farmers. ...
The result is billions in added costs that are already flowing through to producers, dealers, and ultimately farmers. ...
Yet, Pres Turmp is trying to deflect away from that and trying to blame the increased cost of farm equipment upon ~pollution standards.~
