The party of the sitting president has only gained House seats twice since World War II ended -- in 1998 and 2002. Typically, the president's party loses more than 25 seats on average.

... The president shared his optimism at a gathering of House GOP members in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday morning at which he acknowledged the president's party typically doesn't do well in midterm elections, but said his second term is going so well that it will be a boon to Republicans.

"We're going to make history and break records with the epic midterm victory that we're gonna pull off -- that just doesn't seem to happen for people who win the presidency. It's an amazing phenomena," Trump said. "And we sure as hell are having a successful presidency, I will say that."

He went on to say his administration has been extra-successful, pointing to the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicols Maduro on Saturday, which he said was a "very good day."

"But even if it's successful, they don't win," Trump said about prior presidencies. "I don't know what it is, there's something psychological."

Trump took his right hand and made the "crazy" hand gesture next to his head as he made that last comment. ...

So, what has damaged American democracy more...the Nixon administration or the Trump administration? Since the Trump fascist machine has three years to ruin America, I figure it won't even be close at the end, because we may find ourselves being Russia, with a pretend democracy by 2028.

I think they knew who they were voting for, to be sure.

But I think you massively overestimate how many Americans really understand what "fascist" means.

He was a racist in his first term and that didn't seem to have an impact....so it switched to fascist.

I think that has an even less impact.

How many votes did Trump win Florida by?

Liar, pervert, etc....people think they know what those words mean.

But it's not important to them their president be above that.

It's important to me. I didn't care for Hillary Clinton or Kamala Harris.....but words like "liar, fraud, pervert, fascist and sanity" actually matter to me. So I voted for them.

Why doesn't that matter to more people?

6 million fewer people showed up to vote against Trump than showed up to vote against him the first time. I'm still wrapping my head around that.

I wasn't referring to party line republican voters. They're quite predictable.

I'm talking about the 6 million voters who showed up to vote against Trump when Biden was running that disappeared when Trump ran again.
