Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, January 26, 2026

"It has always been, I think, the fear, and now I think closer to the reality that the Trump administration is creating this mayhem, particularly in cities in swing states, in order to take control of the election, to say, 'Oh, the city's out of control, the state's out of control, you can't trust the state government, we just need to run the election in November,'" Murphy told host Dana Bash on CNN's "State of the Union."

The surest thing in the world is that Trump will make his move to obliterate American democracy to save himself from the upcoming November elections.

It is true that Donald is a blob of increasingly mindless fat.

It is also true that souless monster Miller is the de facto President of teh United States.

Murphy: Trump Admin 'creating this mayhem' to 'take control' of Midterms

|------- Pam Bondi came under fire over the weekend for what some have called a "breathtaking" plan to extort the state of Minnesota as a means to "seize" the state's "election infrastructure."

Bondi has purportedly already taken the first step toward taking over elections in Minnesota and other U.S. states, according to Democratic Senator Chris Murphy.

... "Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump," he wrote. "Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It's a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states." ...

Trump claimed that he "won Minnesota all three times, by a lot."

Does it apply to the ICE agent who shot a helpless man four times in the back and killed him?

When will he be identified?

It's not law enforcement.

ICE is the private paramilitary of Donald Trump.

Someone says "law enforcement" and you salivate like Pavlov's dog.

We might be in insurrection territory.

Documents and Signal chats have been "recorded" in which people in MN are organizing obstruction of justice.

This as I stated in the first thread on the topic, things are going to get worse before they get better. IMO pro government Democrats should understand what is happening is MN is orchestrated by not only foreigners, but also the State government is involved (organizing the Signal chat & documents). They need to distance themselves in some form, or else this can go sideways really fast.

Serious days ahead, A_MORONs inability to comprehend this is due to his not taking prescribed mental medication, which last time got him suspended.

ICE is NOT law enforcement. And they are obviously being poorly trained.

ICE training was reportedly cut from about five months to approximately 8 weeks (47-48 days) to quickly get officers into the field.

Training for law enforcement officers typically takes 5 to 6 months (roughly 800-900 hours) for basic academy, followed by 10 to 16 weeks or more of field training. In California, for example, the POST-certified Basic Academy lasts 6 months, often exceeding 900-1000 hours, followed by extensive, mandatory field training.

How many documented instances are there of ICE breaking the law? Probably thousands by now.

When I went into the Border Patrol in 1992, minimum requirements were 4 years of a combination of pertinent education or qualifying experience. The Border Patrol Academy was 17 weeks. Following academy graduation was 6 months of structured field training including 1 day per week of classroom post-academy training reinforcing law, operations, and Spanish. A Conduct and Efficiency (C&E) evaluation was done every two weeks to track trainees' performance and progress. A final examination was given at the 10 month mark, after which you still had to complete two more months riding with experienced agents until the probationary year was completed. My academy class entered with 50 students, I don't remember the exact number but just over 30 of us completed the probationary year. That was about average, I think somewhere between 60-70% was the norm.

By the time I was a Field Training Officer in 1996, prior experience requirements were already being reduced and background checks sped up to comply with hiring mandates. By the time I became a Supervisor in 1998, incident rates were rising including allegations of excessive force, rights violations, and internal policy violations. Then following 9/11 and the creation of DHS, we were taken out of DOJ, which at least made an effort to investigate and take enforcement actions, and made part of the DHS/ICE. And the agency just spiraled into a disorganized mess. I resigned in 2007, probably 5 years later than I should have.

Thank you for that.

I have met many Border Patrol Agents in my career with the federal government. I even went to some training classes with some of them.

The were very professional and I even made friends with a few.

That was many many years ago.

I also watched as management degraded our agency into a hostile mess. All in-person meetings were canceled and we were restricted to our offices and not allowed to even make purchases in order to repair things. It's really hard to run a scientific organization without any funding. It got so bad at one point we were told not to contact each other on the phone. Communication with our peers was frowned upon. The word "Innovation" was literally banned.

So I too had to leave the government. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. But I retired in 2019 under the first Trump administration due to a "hostile work environment". Had planned on working for ten more years.

I have always wondered if I should have stayed and fought. But I have a family and my health was beginning to suffer. Ended up in the ER several times because of the stress. Had to choose life over a premature death ... for my family.

I can't imagine being a federal government employee right now. The use of the term "Mayhem" in the title line is appropriate. It's no longer government of the people, for the people, by the people. It's government controlling the people, to lying to the people, spiting the people. To the point of the post, this is just another sampling of what this administration is trying to do, destroy the basic framework of law and right that have made this country great for 250 years. There's no longer separation of powers. There's no longer states' rights. The Bill of Rights is on fire. What we have are the self-serving whims of a greedy tyrant and the sycophants fighting for crumbs from his table.

Hi El Buscador:

Thanks for relating the pre-9/11 world we were accustomed to. I saw the rigorous training Border Patrol recruits went through at FLETC last century. If I recall correctly, BP and USMS recruits underwent boxing sessions as part of DT, unlike other students.

I too can't imagine what it's like to be in a federal law-enforcement agency or the US military right now.

#26 | Posted by C0RI0LANUS

Yes, we did box. Part of a very physically demanding defensive tactics program. I wonder how much DT training today's ICE agents are getting. The purpose of a DT program isn't to teach agents to beat the hell out of people, it's to give them a toolbox of options prior to going to deadly force. All I see out of ICE in MN is either using chemical irritants or going to the gun. A trained group of officers should have had Alex Pretti controlled, handcuffed, and secured in about 30 seconds.

#27 | Posted by El_Buscador at 2026-01-27 12:50 PM | Reply

Hi El_Buscador:

Boxing was also meant to toughen up the body and soul, as well as strengthen the cardio, right?

All USMA cadets at West Point undergo boxing training too in their first one or two years.

The GS-1811 Criminal Investigator and GS-1810 Immigration Agent (as well as uniformed police) recruits were taught the standard "FLETC death tactics:" two-man jam, some pressure points, simple strikes, compliance techniques without choking or strangling a suspect-- no UFC brutality.

The training emphasis last century was on conducting surprise raids, not ad hoc street operations or use of explosives or chemical irritants, like we see from ICE today.

I can't imagine holding a cell phone or a hot dog with one hand while deploying my pistol with the other hand.

#28 | Posted by C0RI0LANUS

Oh yeah, the boxing was more for fitness and getting people in the mindset to take a punch and continue fighting. Actual defensive/control tactics were based on pain compliance with minimal injury, pressure point strikes to stun and disable, and joint lock holds to control. Solo or with a partner or team. The goal was to get a subject handcuffed and controlled as swiftly as possible, for your safety and theirs. Op plans were about stealth and surprise, getting in position without being detected, and making the arrest(s) quickly before the subject(s) had time to react. We usually only worked in very small teams. Pairs, 3-4 at most.

I don't know exactly how much the Border Patrol has changed in the almost 20 years I've been out, but I do believe a contributing factor to the problems in MN are from using people to do a job they're not accustomed to doing. How many agents do they have in Minneapolis, 400-600? Those agents aren't all local. probably very few are. I'm guessing they have agents detailed in from stations all over the country. They don't know the area, they don't know a lot of the people they're working with, they're not accustomed to the kind of work they're assigned, many may not want to be there in the first place, no wonder the whole operation is disorganized.

#29 | Posted by El_Buscador at 2026-01-27 02:40 PM | Reply

Yup, the FLETC training regimen back then was the same for us. Safely secure the suspect and speed them before a federal magistrate.

~

Clever federal site commanders or AICs would use the experts at traffic and DWI checkpoints: the local police.

Once the police politely marshal the traffic flow to a checkpoint, the ICE agents could then ask to see ID of the passengers.

Rudimentary traffic stops were taught at FLETC for "Terry stop" training and safety purposes, but this was not a priority for the CITP recruits.

BTW in Australia, federal immigration officers are unarmed. When they conduct raids at factories or farms for illegal aliens, these unarmed immigration officers are accompanied by armed local or federal police to deal with crowd control or violence.
