Thursday, February 05, 2026

On the heels of two fatal shootings of U.S. citizens in Minnesota at the hands of federal immigration agents, 65% of Americans said Immigration and Customs Enforcement has "gone too far," according to the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll. And President Trump is facing the highest intensity of disapproval since just after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Trump's overall approval rating remains low at 39%, with 56% disapproving, and a whopping 51% strongly disapproving.

That's the highest Marist has seen in its polling since it started asking how strongly respondents approve or disapprove of presidents dating back to 2017.

"The thing in the numbers that we've been experiencing is the shift among some of the folks who voted for him " his voting coalition " not necessarily the governing support he has, but his voting coalition," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion.

That coalition included younger people, Latinos and independents, all of whom Trump is struggling with in this survey."

It's amazing that 1/3 of Americans are okay with executing Alex Pretti in the back with ten shots while he was face down on the street.

What utter vile filth.

1/3 of America is irredeemable.

I'd say about 15% is irredeemable, the rest are simply born and raised into being Republicans, the way some people are born and raised into being Mets fans.

Most people that allow themselves to be polled are morons anyway.

I'd say 15% is too low. Maybe 25%.

To the question "Does the Earth go around the Sun, or does the Sun go around the Earth," 26 percent of those surveyed answered incorrectly.

In the same survey, just 39 percent answered correctly (true) that "The universe began with a huge explosion" and only 48 percent said "Human beings, as we know them today, developed from earlier species of animals."

Just over half understood that antibiotics are not effective against viruses.

Probably why Pres Trump has said that people won't need to vote again.

"Trump Hints at Panic Over ICE as Camps Anger MAGA Country

As Trump reveals a hint of fear that ICE is becoming a major political liability, a sharp observer of Democrats explains how this moment is handing them a major opportunity to seize control of this debate."

Poll: Two-Thirds of Americans Say ICE Has 'Gone Too Far'

Well, count me amongst the one-third who says they haven't gone far enough.

This is what the people voted for, in 2016 and then doubling down eight years later to put an insurrectionist, adjudicated rapist, convicted felon into the White House.

Just remind that one-third that Trump's goons are coming for their guns, so as to further their fascist dictatorship. The realization that Der Dotard, Drunken Jeanine Pirro and others in the administration want to take away guns is enough to whittle that 1/3 down quite a bit...

Damn, 71% of independents?
That is some crazy ----.

I bet if you polled the "independents" here you'd get pretty near unanimous support for ICE.

@#13 ... Damn, 71% of independents?
That is some crazy ----....

Yeah.

It was the Independents who swung the Swing States to then-candidate Trump in 2024.

And now, the policies they voted for seem to be anathema for them.

But, they got what they voted for.

At this point, one question I have is along the lines of ...

Do those Independent voters have a memory that will last into 2026?

What about these people?

I bet they think ICE is doing to much ... but don't realize the irony of their own actions.

ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection employed at least 30 people with sexual and violent criminal histories in recent years, according to a report published Monday by the Ohio Immigrant Alliance with research from the Pacific Antifascist Collective.
At least 20 of those individuals committed offenses with underage victims, according to the report.

Have no fear. Chucky Boy will give a press conference holding two blocks of melting ice as a bad metaphor for what he's *in really angry voice* reaaaallly gonna do to 'em! only to babble like the long past prime, impotent idiot he is, and it will become fodder for the right to gloss over the very real message the Dems just dropped the ball in communicating...again.
