So @elienyc.bsky.social and @strictscrutiny.bsky.social have speculated that Alito may retire soon. I agree. Elie lays out the case here--it'd be odd to release a memoir in October if he's (a) still serving and (b) unable to promote it because he's hearing arguments. www.thenation.com/article/poli ...

If he waits until after the midterms, and Dems win the Senate, I expect they would hold the seat up until Dotard is out of office. Pull a McConnell on them, maybe Judge Keg dies in a drunk driving crash and Thomas is indicted at the Haig for raping a five year old on Trumpstein Island. That would give the next Dem POTUS three picks and balance this insane court.

If Alito is planning on retiring, and I'm not sure why he would when there are still civil rights left to violate, he's going to do it now.

Unless the GOP pulls off massive voter fraud, the mid terms will see increased democrats in Congress.

Now here is a nightmare scenario...Alito resigns, Vance is nominated/appointed to his seat, Rubio is then appointed VP, only needs a majority vote in both Houses of Congress. Then Trump resigns, as Nixon resigned, and Rubio automatically ascends to President and pardons Trump for each and every grift ever, and pardons Trump's family and the entire gang, and then it isn't Trump in the new come the midterms, or the 2028 elections, it will be "good cop' Rubio.
Makes sense to me, though the Republican Party might find Trump not amenable to heading for the hills.
