"The toll proposal also includes a provision to block transit by ships associated with the United States"

Even if Mexico pays for it?

Given the shipping lanes are in international waters, isn't this piracy?

Or, I should say, I'm pretty sure they're in international waters.

Tanker hit in Kuwaiti harbor

So, tell me again how opening the Straits of Hormuz will accomplish anything?

Yes

Who is going to stop the pirates?

"international waters"

The United States doesn't observe international law, so...

"Iran to Impose Tolls on Strait of Hormuz"

Tolls?

Just call them Tariffs.

Republicans will say this is a step towards lasting peace in the Middle East.

Given the shipping lanes are in international waters.

Technically they are not. They are within the territorial limits of Oman and Iran.

Just a technical point though... they are still open to passage.

Good job you orange colored taint.

This is what happens when you elect the single biggest necrotic incompetent buffoon with more skeletons in his closet than Liberace and let him pick a cabinet chock full of nuts, bozos and sycophantic ass kissers who are dumber than he is.

The US deserves ALL the pain that is coming.

All of it.

Nope.

The waters are part of Iran and Oman.

It's considered an international strait under UNCLOS.

Iran signed UNCLOS but never ratified.

Guess who never signed? That would be the US.

So the US has no claim to the Strait as an international strait.

Just rename it to the Straits of America.

Problem solved!

In a couple of days Taco Trump will walk away from the destruction he has wrought in the Gulf area, and will blame the whole situation on NATO and the Europeans.

Listening to the BBC this morning I realized that those folks across the pond have it all figured out--Der Dotard stepped into two piles of dog droppings and cannot get anyone to clean his shoes. He can try to cast blame all he wants and this is all on him, and even he knows it. Of course, the result will be that Trump will lash out in a dozen directions to try to get back at those who wouldn't get him out of this jam.

If nothing else, Drinky Pet's days are numbered at the Department of Bore...
