Mark Carney says that after decades of partnership with the United States, close economic ties between the two countries have become a "weakness" that must be corrected.

"The world is more dangerous and divided," Carney said. "The US has fundamentally changed its approach to trade, raising its tariffs to levels last seen during the Great Depression."

"Many of our former strengths, based on our close ties to America, have become weaknesses," he added. "Weaknesses that we must correct."

The comments are the latest from Carney to signal the shifting nature of US-Canada relations after decades of economic integration, as threats of higher tariffs from US President Donald Trump upend trade ties with foes and allies worldwide

PM Mark Carney and the people of Canada can look to the happiest country on the planet for a model: Finland.

The Finnish-Russia divorce occurred abruptly after the Bolshevik Revolution when Helsinki achieved independence, followed by the Winter War and the Continuation War.

Over the decades, the Finns have learned to live with a dangerous, toxic, and militarily strong bully sharing their 835-mile border.

Helsinki's economy is wired into the EU and every direction except towards Russia.

Nearly every member of Finnish society has a civil defense role or military reserve mission in the event of war with the Kremlin.

The US-Canadian divorce will be messy because of NORAD, NATO, the MLB, and the NBA, but is still doable.

Mark Carney, a PhD like Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum, is the right man for this mission.

"The US has fundamentally changed its approach to trade, raising its tariffs to levels last seen during the Great Depression."

This is what I voted for.
