"With the signing of a $25 billion memorandum of understanding, Jalali said the Hormoz project " alongside the ongoing expansion of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant " represents one of the most significant pillars of Iranian-Russian cooperation in the field of what Tehran describes as "peaceful nuclear energy."

The Hormoz project is set to be developed by Iran's "private sector" in cooperation with Russia's state nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, according to Iranian media."

"Pentagon likely to cancel missile deal with Germany over fears of Russia

The Pentagon is expected to cancel a plan to send Tomahawk missiles to Germany partly because officials are concerned Russia will view it as an escalation, a startling reversal of a long-planned agreement with one of America's biggest allies.

U.S. officials fear Moscow will retaliate if the Trump administration follows through on the effort to deploy precision missiles in the middle of the continent, according to two European officials and one American official.

But any decision not to deliver them would yank back a deal made during the Biden administration and leave Berlin without defenses German leaders say they desperately need."

From page 3 of the Iran agreement that Pres trump tore up in 2018 ...

... iii.
Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.

iv.
Successful implementation of this JCPOA will enable Iran to fully enjoy its right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes under the relevant articles of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in line with its obligations therein, and the Iranian nuclear programme will be treated in the same manner as that of any other non-nuclear-weapon state party to the NPT. ...

Incredible. Russia is acting like a better ally dealing with Iran, than the US as an ally is acting towards Ukraine and NATO (Canada, Denmark, the UK, etc).

Too bad the Islamophobes and neo-cons like Sebastian Gorka and John Bolton (who is about to plead guilty to a national security crime) and AIPAC prevented a lasting detente between the US and Iran.

The Iran nuclear deal worked well and Dummkopf Trumpf threw it away listening to ICC-indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.

Oil-rich Iran and her 93 million people would be on our side today instead of the Kremlin.

Now the US is over $100bn in debt over this idiotic "Forever War."

Thanks Bibi, Dotard, and AIPAC! Irrational Muslim hatred has done a lot of good for the peace-loving, hard-working American taxpayer.

Sounds like Mr. Putin just pulled the rug out from under Trump's plans (goal) to rule the world by controlling the world's economy.

And the self-professed brainiac like Trump didn't even see it coming.

He's going to need a really big distraction now to cover up his Iranian boondoggle. Cuba won't be big enough . . . maybe he'll attack the Statue of Liberty instead.

Iran, Russia Sign $25 Billion Nuclear Cooperation Deal

Sure, but it's very outdated information - the 'deal' was in September of 2025, the world has changed slightly since then:

In your opinion, what makes the difference if the "deal" needed a few adjustments? In fact, under the current condition, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

The main point, with or without, Mr. Putin just put BFF Trump in a most awkward position and a badly bruised ego.

Both he and Netanyahu left holding the bag, so to speak.

Legally, why is it that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons? Not arguing the advisability, but the legality.
Israel introduced such weapons of mass destruction and has hundreds aimed straight at Iran, the US has thousands within bombers and missiles. Self defense is the highest priority a nation can have. It is nonsense to say the Iran war is about nukes, it is about stealing Iranian oil, as the conflict has been since we murdered their democracy to put in the Shah.

Good that you don't argue advisability of Iran (and some other countries in the Middle East) having nukes.

Legality: UN's NPT is the general basis in principle for non-proliferation of nuclear WMDs, otherwise what have IAEA inspectors been doing in Iran all these years?

en.wikipedia.org - Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons - June 1968

Parties 191
membership in dispute: North Korea
non-parties: India, Israel, Pakistan and South Sudan

|------- Iran was found in non-compliance with its NPT safeguards obligations in an unusual non-consensus decision because it "failed in a number of instances over an extended period of time" to report aspects of its enrichment program. -------|

Iran has also for many years openly expressed policy and will to destroy "Little Satan" (Israel) and then "Big Satan" (USA), and used terrorist proxies in other countries (Lebanon, Syria, Yemen etc, including number of "Palestinian" terrorist organizations) to attack Israel. That's just history.

[Mostly Shi'a] Islamist-governed Iran also has long been a threat to [mostly Sunni] neighbors like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Yemen and others.

Saudis openly stated that if Iran gets nuclear weapon, they are going to get one too, buying from Pakistan, and/or building their own. Neighbors are not concerned about Israel, yet most of them are worried about Iran having nukes, and as we see Iran attacking their Arab/Islamic neighbors with their "conventional" weapons, not without reason.

Israel introduced such weapons of mass destruction and has hundreds aimed straight at Iran

"Introduced" where? "Hundreds"? "Aimed"? "Straight at Iran"?

That's an amazing new intelligence!

Why hasn't Israel used a couple of them? Any other country Israel would "aim" nukes at?

Why did UAE ask Israel to provide Iron Dome to defend them from Iranian missiles?

Well, at least you understand concept of "self-defense" when the country has been constantly threatened with annihilation and attacked by several of its neighbors since Day 1 of its existence. You just don't see it from Israel's point of view.

Iraq, Libya and Syria have tried developing various NBC WMDs, with varying success.

Libya: finally agreed to abandon their WMD program in 2003, days after Saddam Hussein was captured in Iraq.
www.armscontrol.org - Chronology of Libya's Disarmament

Syria: has been stopped several times from developing or importing WMDs:

... it is about stealing Iranian oil

Oh, not this pablum again! Who and how would be "stealing oil" from Iran? Same people who were "stealing oil" from Iraq, Libya or Syria?

Was it also about "stealing Iranian oil" during Biden administration when Iran first attacked Israel to support their terrorist proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon?

You bet it would, and need more than just "few adjustments" - "under current circumstances" it's essentially null and void, given that Russia is also under sanctions.

The main point, with or without, Mr. Putin just put BFF Trump in a most awkward position and a badly bruised ego.

That makes no sense.

This didn't "just" happen, as I explained... and there is no such thing as shameless Trump finding himself in "awkward position"... and if anyone couldn't care less about Trump's ego, it's Mr. Putin and Mr. Xi, for different reasons.

In fact, Trump keeps trying to "normalize" the US relations with Putin's Russia by emulating Nixon's China "ping-pong diplomacy" by sending hockey team to Moscow... Very "original", no?

Both he and Netanyahu left holding the bag, so to speak.

Don't conflate the two - for Trump it's a matter of ego, for Israel it's a matter of existence.

Even if this eventually happens, if it's a nuclear energy reactors agreement there would be at the very least an IAEA observation and monitoring regime.

If not, what difference does it make, except proving that Iran is a client state of Russia and intends to have WMDs, which Saudi Arabia and most of Iran's neighbors do not want but have no ability to stop by themselves?

Was Biden "left holding the bag" when something similar happened in Iraq in 2022-2024?

www.washingtoninstitute.org - Iraq Pledges Nuclear Cooperation with Russia and China - June 11, 2025

|------- ... Iraq is still a governance basket case and a huge U.S. sanctions risk. The ruling coalition that appointed Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani includes several U.S.-designated, Iran-backed terrorist organizations, and nuclear chief Aboudi is a member of one such group, Asaib Ahl al-Haq (AAH). ...

U.S. and international policymakers have ample reason to view Iraq's nuclear energy ambitions with caution. Although a single small training reactor is unlikely to pose a threat, anything more than that would raise multiple concerns.

First, the militias that essentially run Iraq have a poor record on safety, corruption, and smuggling, so trusting them to responsibly oversee nuclear infrastructure would be unwise. ...

Second, can a government controlled by Iran-backed militias be counted on not to transfer nuclear technology to and from Iran? For example, Iran has vowed to retain its uranium enrichment capabilities and could conceivably become the main and most proximal supplier of nuclear fuel to Iraq... Worse, Iran may try to use militia-run Iraq as a way to circumvent U.S. nuclear sanctions. To give an adjacent example, after the National Iranian Oil Company was hit with heavy sanctions, it established offices inside Iraq's Oil Ministry, which is free from such sanctions. Since then, Iraq's ministry has repeatedly purchased excess oil and gas equipment and transferred it to Iran. Such abuses make clear why it is so important for Washington not to repeat the error it made during Iraq's 2022 government formation process, when U.S. officials raised no objection to a member of a designated terrorist group running key scientific and nuclear research agencies. ...
