Congresswoman Kat Cammack (R-FL-3rd CD): "The thing that people need to recognize is that as we sit here, the Chinese government has already deployed digital twins of every member of Congress and has been using the data that they've harvested."

imo, AI is an awesome power.

Whether it is a good power or an evil power depends upon how AI is used.

So far, I'm leaning towards evil.

Why?

Because the evil people among us seem to be more eager to adopt new technologies for their end goals.

Case in point ...

I run a web server. Mostly for family stuff.

I have preventive measures in place on that server.

One of those preventive measures involves the firewall.

OK, a few years ago, the number of IP addresses that those "preventive measures" had blocked was well below 1000.

Maybe 100 or 200 IP addresses blocked for ~bad behavior.~

This past year, that number has increased to over 5000.

Has AI been a part of the attacks upon my server?

imo, probably. Maybe even, likely.

I have stories to tell about my firewall ...

Shriekback - This Big Hush (1985)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
[Verse]
Is there a fire in the sky?
Is there a moon up there?
Is there anything alive now?
This darkness is what I hear
This is a breathless silence
A moment out of time
I see your face in the shadows
The telltale signs are in your eyes

[Chorus]
More than I can hold in my hands
Running through the gaps like water
Aching with a passion inside
Deep as the river
All desire, the ashes and the fire
Turning this night inside and the light from you

[Verse]
Is there a flame in the dark?
Is there a bright hard star?
These creatures look the same now
We freeze wherever we are
We wake alone in the blackness
We sleep wherever we fall
One dream all around us
This big hush infects us all

[Chorus]
Holding up on animal fear
Soaking up the waves underwater
Turned to music no one can hear
Forever in this half light
All desire, the ashes and the fire
Turning this night inside and the light from you
All desire, the ashes and the fire
Turning this night inside and the light from you

...

They don't write lyrics like that anymore...

I think this all began after GHW Bush threw up in the Japan PM's lap, hit the deck, and was replaced by the time he came up for air.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!"

"digital twins"

Meta alraedy announced this a few months ago. They can deploy a digital version of you after you're dead (or obviously before then). It can post with your tone and word choice, and it will keep posting cat pictures and your favorite Boomer MAGA content on your Facebook page.

Funny, it's called Innovation when the Capitalists do it. Somehow it's not such a great innovation when the ChiComs do it.

"As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won't be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet. But rest assured that, in the meantime, I'm not taking a break from the Senate business that matters to you. I've been working closely with my legislative staff on current issues, and with my Kentucky team who help me provide timely constituent services across our Commonwealth. I've also been keeping in touch with my Senate colleagues on the appropriations process, midterm politics, and everything in between.

"You're right to expect your representatives to work hard for you. And part of my decision to retire at the end of my term this coming January was being honest about the demands of Senate work. But I still have unfinished business to complete on your behalf, and I have every intention of finishing the job you elected me to do.

"I'll keep working hard to get back on the Senate floor as soon as possible. And I'll keep you posted on the progress of my recovery. Until then, I'm so grateful for your prayers and well wishes."

What was McConnell's attending physician's statement?

"Senator McConnell has experienced several falls throughout the year that have been attributed to his post-polio condition. He was admitted to the hospital four weeks ago after falling at home and sustaining minor injuries.

"What was McConnell's attending physician's statement?"

Whatever script McConnell's team gave him to read.

For example, the doctor's statement attributing the cause to McConnell's post-polio condition isn't something allowed by HIPAA. It was allowed by McConnell.

In the classic 1970s TV series The Night Stalker, a script was written where intrepid reporter Carl Kolchak uncovers an extra-terrestrial plot where aliens are replacing US congressmen.

Unfortunately, this predecessor to the later X-Files TV series was cancelled before that episode was produced and aired.
