There was a time, really not so long ago, law professors might speak to classes of mob fighter Rudy Giuliani and say to students, by way of inspiration, "That could be you!"

But that was then and this is now.

Now they limn for classes the sorry tale of a drunken has-been Trump lackey and warn, "That could be you!"

IMO republicans fucked up.

If I understand correctly, Kentucky law prohibits the governor from assigning a person to a vacant seat.

So there would have been a special election.

Instead. There's an empty seat in the Senate.

I mean. Congress is mostly a ceremonial institution at the moment. But Kentucky would have most likely given Trump another MAGA senator.
