Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, October 26, 2026

Rather than flood his feed with protracted presidential prose on key election issues for American voters such as the cost of living, the failing economy, or his war on Iran, Trump expended 1,322 words moaning about comedian Bill Maher being mean to him.

Trump not only didn't peak in middle school, he never left it.

Bill Maher's desperate attempt at relevance has turned him into an abused housewife with this president.

@#3

imo, spot on.

Also that former Dem strategist, what is his name? Carivan? Or something like that. Both seem to be wanting attention of late, as their careers fade into the sunset.

I have to agree that Mahr is looking for attention by attending not one, but two dinners at the White House. When you zig, Mahr zags to stay relevant in this political spectrum.

Mahr doesn't get it - Trump loves showing off the WH and of course he shakes his head likd he really cares and acts like he's really interested in what people are saying. Trump is a great party host no doubt - but a horrible US President. Mahr loses focus on this - and falls prey to what Trump really is, a classic BS artist.

But the real kicker remains on Mahr's first trip to the WH, where he said he asked the President if he realizes how much he scares people with his actions. Mahr replied - I can't remember what he said.

You can't remember?

@#9 ... Mahr doesn't get it ...

imo, Mr Maher gets it, and is soaking "it" for all the publicity, a.k.a. money, he can garner from "it."

Maher is a dull man's idea of a clever man.

OpEd: I saw Trump's tax returns. You should, too (2016)
www.chron.com

... In January, Donald Trump had this to say when he was asked about whether he would release his tax returns: "I have very big returns, as you know, and I have everything all approved and very beautiful and we'll be working that over in the next period of time."

Yet he held off on releasing his returns. And on Tuesday night, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee seemed to close the door for good on the matter. He told the Associated Press that he wouldn't release his returns prior to the November elections unless what he described as Internal Revenue Service audit of his finances was complete.

"There's nothing to learn from them," Trump said of his tax returns. ...

I think the demented old fool thinks Maher insulted him by calling him a "lame duck", which is just common political parlance for being in the end of your term.

LOL ~ Comedians are the Matador and Trump is the bull and all the world is a stage. I don't blame the comedians for tweaking Trump's ire. I blame Trump for being so thin-skinned and blindly incompetent.

@#15 ... I don't blame the comedians for tweaking Trump's ire. ...

I do not disagree with that comment. Perhaps Mr Colbert may have a different view, though.

OK, that aspect aside, and getting back to the gist of your comment ...

I have no issues with comedians ~tweaking~ Pres Trump for any rhyme or reason.

But Mr Maher (and also Mr Caville) seem to be using such tweaking more for monetary bases, e.g., face time on TV, than comedic purposes.

That is where my concern arises.

LAMP

I understand your misgivings.

OTOH, Trump not only makes himself the target of comedians, he also writes the script.

All presidents take a lot of ridicule but instinctively know that flying into a rage only adds fuel to the next night's monologue.

For all their wit and laughter, comedians, in cases like Trump, are really vultures, doing their part to remove the decaying carrion.

Aren't we, on the Retort, doing the same thing?
