Another one who is now stuck with trying to be like a post-WWII "good NAZI" i.e. the many former NAZI/SS thugs who failed to salvage their lives and reputations by claiming to have never supported Hitler.
The "good NAZIs" of Germany didn't fare any better than the scumbags who stood by instead of standing up to Trump.
The whole lot of Republicans will end up shunned except in their bubbles. Especially once America finds out the breadth and depth of corruption in the Trump cartel, Epstein hearings, Trump vetoing everything Dems attempt to do to help Americans, and 10,000,000 cut from Medicaid (and odious requirements) that'll lead to rural hospitals closing. It'll all be out there.
America's "good NAZIs" (Republican Trump cheerleaders distancing themselves from Trump) will be shunned and reviled in the end.

Asked how Republicans could recover, Sununu said: "We need leaders who are good leaders, problem solvers, but also who are good at connecting with the other parts of the country, the other parts of whether it's conservative politics, Republican politics, grassroots organizations."
"And that's something the president's never been able to do," he added, in a final indictment of Trump
brilliant....
arrgh.

At the top of the list of "what happened" things, I would put the cowardice of most of today's Congressional Republican Party members who didn't represent the people of their state, they just didn't want to anger Trump and thus lose their jobs.. Not sure what I would have done in such a situation, but at this point, to be a Republican Party member in Congress and nominally supporting Trump is to be a traitor to the Constitution. They know it, and we know it. I still think he will resign, but even if he does, there is no way the Republican Party recovers until after the 2028 elections.

"Such Christian language, Corky!"
I sort of think the "Christian" brand has become a synonym for right wing greed and selfishness; Elect a "Christian" so he can take away food, healthcare, education, retirement pensions, clean air and water....you know....everything Jesus would not do. It seems that those who have most loudly proclaimed their Christian identity have the least respect for the words of Jesus...as in when did Jesus say persecute immigrants? Is ICE a Christian organization?
