PS. Also was at Carter's Sunday school class at Maranatha in Plains back in the 2000s, and have a personalized autographed copy of a book from him that I worked on that includes lots of early photographs from his state Senate and gubernatorial campaigns.

Sure, he had problems and things in his past. He ran a segregationist campaign for governor to get elected in 1970, something that's not featured at his presidential library. He was a successful politician, not typically for the feint of heart.

As a human being over the course of his life, he ended up better than 99 percent of humans by dedicating his later life to those other than him.

And for BillJ who says he certainly was a Christian, if you want Christians in politics, which it seems you would, why would you not vote every single time for someone whose policies and actions matched those of Carter in his postpresidency rather than others?
