How long do you think we can protect our auto manufacturers from China and the world? They have already collapsed once. And we had to bail them out /subsidize them already. Are we to always subsidize them?

If all tariffs were removed (slowly if need be) to allow for a more fair market competition would not those (Toyota etc) prices come down too? Are auto industries always to be given some kind of guarantee by our government that they will always be supported and must always succeed? No matter how badly they perform in the market? That seems a bit socialistic to me.
