A photographer's snapshot of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent at the United Nations General Assembly last week revealed a private message that captured the Trump administration's deepening concern over collapsing U.S. soybean exports to China"a crisis now entangled with a controversial economic bailout of Argentina. "Finally " just a heads up, I'm getting more intel, but this is highly unfortunate," read the message, which appeared to be sent from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. "We bailed out Argentina yesterday (Bessent) and in return, the Argentine's [sic] are removing their export tariffs on grains, reducing their price, and sold a bunch of soybeans to China, at a time when we would normally be selling to China. Soy prices are dropping further because of it. This gives China more leverage on us."

A bombshell new report says border czar Tom Homan became the object of an FBI sting last year after an associate suggested to FBI agents that his former boss was ripe for a bribe. According to MSNBC's Carol Leonnig and Ken Dilanian, the Homan associate " Julian "Jace" Calderas" bragged to undercover agents that Homan "could facilitate future government contracts in exchange for big money." Calderas is a former U.S. immigration official who worked under Homan in the Obama administration, noted the Monday report. The report cites anonymous sources to claim that Calderas "allegedly proposed to the agents " who were posing as businessmen " that Homan, in exchange for $1 million, could help them win lucrative federal contracts if Donald Trump became president again."

I'm very careful, you know, when I walk downstairs, like I'm on stairs, like these stairs, they're very ... I walk very slowly.

Nobody has to set a record. Just try not to fall. Because it doesn't work out well.

A few of our presidents have fallen and it became a part of their legacy. We don't want that.

You have to walk nice and easy. You're not having, you don't have to set any record.

Be cool. Be cool when you walk down, but don't, don't bop down the stairs.

It's the one thing with Obama, I had zero respect for him as a president, but he would bop down those stairs. I've never seen, da-da, da, da. Pop, pop, pop.

He'd go down the stairs, wouldn't hold on. I said, "it's great. I don't want to do it."

Trump on Tuesday told a gathering of military leaders they should use American cities as "training grounds" and described a federal crackdown on crime in major cities as "a war from within." Trump addressed dozens of top generals and admirals in Quantico, Va., where he said defending the homeland was the military's "most important priority." He signaled that the leaders in the room could be tasked with aiding in federal interventions in Democratic-led cities like Chicago and New York City. "They're very unsafe places, and we're going to straighten them out one by one," Trump said. "And this is going to be a major part for some of the people in this room. That's a war too. It's a war from within." Read more

Jimmy Kimmel's return to late night wasn't quiet it exploded. His comeback episode on ABC pulled in 6.26 million viewers, his biggest audience in years. To put that in perspective, that's a 23 percent share of the entire late-night market, the kind of dominance not seen since Johnny Carson's days. Even more surprising, those numbers came despite a boycott that kept nearly a quarter of ABC affiliates from airing the show. The buzz was undeniable, with clips from the monologue racking up more than 14 million views online within hours. It was a free fall that underlined how much of his initial surge was fueled by curiosity rather than loyalty. Read more

25 states were unable to cover all their financial obligations at the end of fiscal year 2024, which for most states ended 30 June, per the annual State of the States report. While every state but Vermont mandates a balanced budget, elected officials often exclude certain costs such as future pension obligations and deferred maintenance from their budget calculations. "This practice essentially shifts these financial responsibilities onto future taxpayers, leaving them to cover the expenses that should have been accounted for in the current budget," the Truth in Accounting report states. In total, calculated states hold $2.2 trillion in assets and $2.9 trillion in debts. At $832 billion, unfunded pension obligations are the largest driver of state debts. The top "sinkhole states" are New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, and California. The top surplus states are North Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming, Utah, and Tennessee. Read more

In what follows, I argue that the root cause lies not merely in weakening demand or fickle policy"but in the decision to make the ZDX an all-electric vehicle from the outset. In other words: if the ZDX had retained an internal combustion (or hybrid) option, it might still be in Acura's lineup today.

This directive, referred to as NSPM-7, describes certain indicators that are common with political violence. It is basically an exhaustive Presidential Memorandum on pre-crime.
