The real outrage is ever giving away taxes to niche interests.

...80.000 armed tax collectors collecting money for the opera. I hate opera, why should I be forced to pay for it? Sell tickets or something, I don't care. But don't take my money under threat and give it to your cocktail party fruits.

#4 | Posted by look_inward at 2024-06-22 12:38 PM

what are you rambling about?

You know an easy way to flag yourself as an idiot? Whine about "My TaX DolLarZZ!!!"

#5 | Posted by jpw at 2024-06-22 12:43 PM

"I hate opera, why should I be forced to pay for it?"

Imagine being a grown adult and not really understanding why you have to pay taxes.

Just try and imagine such a crazy thing. Us regular people can't even do it. That's what's different about Deplorables. They don't even know how society works at the most basic levels.

These are the same people who don't understand why surgeons wear masks and gloves in the operating room.

"You want to pay for this"

That's right, I do want to pay for art. Both collectively to sponsor artists, and out of my own pocket to acquire their art.

Also, to flesh out your statement that I paid for that, how much did it cost me?

$32 million investment turns into $2 billion revenue? That's what, a 6150% return?

#10 | Posted by sitzkrieg at 2024-06-22 01:32 PM

You should have just posted that you're the idiot.

It's not about wanting. It's about being adult enough to realize much of what tax money is spent on aren't things I'll use or want, but are still beneficial.

That's easily worth destroying $2,000,000,000 to Deplorables.

Thats funny because as a liberal I could care whether Floridians kill their art programs or not.

Florida is America's dick state.

So doing ------- things is in their nature.

#13 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-06-22 01:48 PM

Since Bootsie Boy got his butt handed to him in the primaries he's been a very small, sad, bitter little fella in FL. It seems the guy just can't pass up an opportunity to inflict discomfort and pain - the more the better, but small-scale nastiness is perfectly acceptable in a pinch - on Floridians not fortunate enough to fall into a demographic he "cares" about. For MAGAts, that's him being "manly" and "standing up" and whatever other flights of fancy populate their fever dreams. Normals may be forgiven for seeing this as the childish acting out and compensating of another political wimp to whom Trump administered a humiliating licking.

He's a real cheer bringer, that one!

What IS it about GOP officials?
Do they all actually attend a
"How to be an -------- school"
before running for office?

I mean I've heard rumors...

Look inward complaining about a photo from 1987. hilarious.

I have to wonder if he was even alive in 1987. And I'm idly curious what he thinks about Metallica.

First thing the Islamic republic did in Iran was ban music, art and literature they deemed too western and liberal.

Art allows freedom of thought and creativity and conservatism abhors freedom and creativity.

It's improper to refer to an Eberly Award contender as "Humpty".

I didn't realize the arts are ENTITLED to tax payer money. Auto mechanics certainly don't receive tax payer money.

This isn't some kind of penalty.

#30 | Posted by BellRinger at 2024-06-23 11:45 PM

"I didn't realize the arts are ENTITLED to tax payer money."

A large chunk of these companies/programs can't just cut 20% off their promised budgets: that requires closer to 40% cuts, since rent, postage, utilities, and insurance don't cut their prices 20%. Nor does depreciation slow down 20%.

And..."the arts"...? Sounds like you identified the target.

"Auto mechanics certainly don't receive tax payer money."

And auto mechanics wouldn't be able to take their kids to Free Shakespeare in the Park if market prices were charged.

"This isn't some kind of penalty."

Pulling the rug out at the last minute ABSOLUTELY IS. It's a childish backlash against what DeSantis believes is the intersection of Intellectuals and Gay Disney.

Have you not looked at auto shop service rates lately? Joe 6-Pack is pulling a lot of change.

He absolutely does when he takes his three kids to see A Midsummer Night's Dream for free.

What in the world makes you say that?

#35 | Posted by snoofy at 2024-06-24 09:45 AM

In both California and Texas, the state will give grants to low income individuals to fix emissions problems on their vehicles.

You know the mechanic doesn't actually get that rate, right?

That rate covers the tech, the service writer, the service manager. None of those three are pulling in a lot of change. They're $60k - $120k jobs.

#37 | Posted by sitzkrieg at 2024-06-24 10:39 AM

"How is this TARGETING anyone?"

I sure wouldn't want to be named Art and have to live in Floriduh.

Hell I would hate to have to live in Floriduh regardless of my name.

That go-go boots guy is out of control. Though I have to admit I like his policy for social media for kids. He may be in to something there.

That doesn't mean DeSantan isn't a broken man.

A broken clock is still right twice a day.
