Others Have Politicized Arlington, but Trump's Approach Has No Precedent

Chris Cameron: Donald J. Trump isn't the first candidate to run afoul of the ban on partisan activity in Arlington National Cemetery. But no one else has responded as hostilely as his campaign has.

The news collective NPR wrote a hit piece on Trump's visit to the cemetery with gold star families. The Harris campaign, with NPR's help are the ones politicizing this event.

Eight of the families involved agree and have said as much publicly.

Wow. That's got to be the stupidest take on this that I've heard yet.

But sure, it was handled wrong. What should have happened is that everyone in the orange menace's campaign entourage should have been arrested, and the convicted felon's conditional release in NY should have been revoked because he's committing more crimes, and he should get to stay in Riker's until his sentencing.

Please post a link to the Trump campaign ad that used images or footage from the Arlington visit.

Harris is politicizing the event, with the aid of the various news collectives, to deflect from responsibility for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

It should be publicized.

Trump is scum. The world needs to know.

Quite the opposite.

Harris is only responding to Trumpy and his typically false allegations.

How is the weather today over there on earth2?

#8 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-09-01 11:25 AM

#4 That's hit piece in the Atlantic. Are saying the Trump campaign wrote or published that hit piece which obviously is intended to deflect for Harris?

Harris is politicizing the event (Trump's violation of sacred ground)

Harris didn't say a single word about ANC until yesterday. Her campaign released a one paragraph comment on Wednesday.

The incident was publicized because it broke federal law and every single protocol Trump's campaign was issued to follow since ANC is never to be used for partisan political purposes due to respecting those buried there. One of Trump's male goons physically assaulted a female ANC worker doing her job trying to keep Section 60 from outside professional photography as Trump was told wasn't allowed.

As I said on another thread, why is this reprobate allowed to continually gaslight and subvert American principles in service of a mentally-ill megalomaniac?

#9 | POSTED BY VISITOR_

Right because every article (not written and approved of by The Murdoch's) about Trump's insane antics is apparently a "hit piece".

#12 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-09-01 11:40 AM

Get this straight: What Trump did only involves Harris because she's the political opponent he and the families seek to blame for the deaths that happened from a suicide bombing during the Afghanistan withdrawal.

The outrage is from all corners of this nation, not just anti-Trump folks. He not only violated federal law, he showed a complete lack of respect for all the others buried in Section 60 - especially those on tombstones photographed along with the family's deceased who requested the photo in the first place.

And no, the family does NOT have permission to unilaterally violate federal laws nor protocols because their son lies there. NO ONE has that right, which is why federal laws and protocols were enacted in the first place to insure our military cemeteries remain politics-free.

I would hardly call you an unbiased judge of such things.

The Tik Tok video clearly shows him violating federal laws. (Again).

#19 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-09-01 12:13 PM

A video that doesn't mention the campaign or Harris.
A video that honors the memory of fallen soldiers.
A video of a man, Trump, honoring and comforting family members is considered a "campaign attack ad".
What does that say about Harris, Donner?

#20 | Posted by visitor_ at 2024-09-01 12:16 PM

Having been to Arlington the rules are basically 'shut the --- up and be respectful' and Trump never shuts the --- up and is never respectful and his people are thugs.

"Then they took over that disaster."

" Why did we want Trump there? It wasn't to help his political campaign"

That's not what Trump thought.

Regardless, it doesn't matter who asked whom. Family pictures are allowed, campaign commercials aren't.

And two hours later, the campaign video was out.

Trump has violated the terms of his bail.

Everyone knows Trump wouldn't have gone if he couldn't have used the event for campaign purposes. Too bad it wasn't pouring down rain that day because everyone knows he wouldn't have gone then either.

re: #27

Disinformation, aka facts that only serve to obfuscate the issue, to lure attention away from the fact that Trump did wrong yet again and is a disgraceful POS. See post #30.

Also, it's unfortunate that members of the military and their families get their "news" from blatant propaganda sources like Fox, leading to foolish behavior and statements like "We wanted a leader", implying that a disgraceful POS like Trump is a leader

#32 | Posted by hamburglar at 2024-09-01 07:47 PM

Bonchie:
This game has long been played left and the federal bureaucracy. When John McCain took some video of him walking among the gravestones, the press attacked him for it. When Barack Obama and Joe Biden did the same thing (including Biden being pictured in Section 60), no one said a word. No ANC official came running out telling them to put the cameras away while accusing them of breaking the rules. Let a Republican show up to honor the fallen though, and suddenly it's a scandal. The entire thing is so transparent.

#33 | Posted by visitor_ at 2024-09-01 08:37 PM

" Let a Republican show up to honor the fallen ... "

If that's all it was, no one would be freaking out.

Trump showed up to make a campaign video, and brought a crew with him.

Why are you pretending he didn't?!? Are you afraid Trump has violated the conditions of his bail and will be incarcerated?

This is simply Liar's Sunday. No, no one has done what Trump did, EVER, since Section 60 was established.

Amid the row between Donald Trump's campaign staff and an official at the Arlington National Cemetery, a photo of Joe Biden from May 2020 has surfaced where he is seen at the Arlington Cemetery. Notably, the photo was taken at section 60, the area where Trump tried to take campaign photographs at but was stopped by the cemetery official, which led to the altercation.

The photo in question was in a video on the 81-year-old's X account posted on May 25, 2020, when he and Jill Biden had participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at section 60 on the occasion of Memorial Day. However, the cemetery said that only staffers are allowed to take photos there during events, and no private camerapersons are allowed to do so. The photo of the Bidens at the cemetery was not during a campaign, it was taken by the cemetery, as part of the official publicity of the event.

www.timesnownews.com

Any photos you've seen of Presidents at ANC were taken when they were there performing official government duties, they were not campaign activities.

Any other lies you wanted disproven before you leave?

#35 | Posted by tonyroma at 2024-09-01 08:50 PM

Visitor lying for Trump is about all that campaign has these days.

And he's biting his couch while he types.

#36 | Posted by Corky at 2024-09-01 08:56 PM

Visitor lying for Trump is about all that campaign has these days.

What V, OneNut, and Strawbringer are doing is far worse than simply lying. They are purposely spreading lies and disinformation to uniformed voters who don't know the details and see this squabbling as nothing more than another 'he said - she said' bothsiderisms issue.

The propaganda works and they know it works. Not only will some voters now try to blame Harris for what Trump did, they'll ignore that the Army itself was the first one to call the campaign out for lying about the events at ANC and the campaign's role in purposefully violating federal laws and the written protocols they agreed to follow before they got there. And then they're using the families to cover for their complete disrespect of the decorum and solemnity Section 60 demands.

This is exactly how they con Americans into voting against their own expressed interests. No one should ignore how corrosive their lies continue to be as the resonate with the unwitting.

In other words, "Woman Who Got Soldiers Killed Condemns Man Who Comforted Their Families."

Just like Mike Pence was personally responsible with the 65 military fatalities during his 4 year error with Trump - who refused to even go to Dover in honor of those killed under his watch after a father confronted him over the death of his Navy Seal son. Trump made the call 5 days into his presidency because Obama wouldn't. The plan was reckless and the father let Trump have it.

Of course, Trump blamed the military and refused to take any responsibility himself. Go ahead and support this coward and traitor. A person is known by the company they keep.
