Dark Brandon Tackles Russian Election Interference in US

The Biden administration announced a sweeping set of actions to tackle a major Russian government-backed effort to influence the 2024 US presidential election on Wednesday, including unveiling criminal charges against two Russian nationals, sanctions on ten individuals and entities, and the seizure of 32 internet domains.

More

At Russian President Vladimir Putin's direction, three Russian companies used fake profiles to promote false narratives on social media, US Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement.

Comments

"Two employees of RT, the Russian state media network, were indicted in a US court for allegedly being part of a scheme that funneled nearly $10 million to set up and direct a Tennessee-based front company to produce online content aimed at sowing divisions among Americans, according to the Justice Department.

Taken together, the actions represent the Biden administration's most significant public response yet to alleged Russian influence operations targeting American voters.

After the US accused Iran of trying to hack both the Trump and Biden-Harris campaigns last month, Wednesday's expected actions are a reminder that US officials continue to see Russia as a prominent foreign influence threat to November's election, the sources said."

It's a complete mystery as to why the orcs are aiding the 300 lb sack of dementia.

#2 Because Dementia Don will destroy NATO which is the only check against the bald midget taking over the former soviet bloc of now independent nations.

Dementia DonOLD brags that he will end the war in the Ukraine, but won't say how he will do so. He will absolutely refuse to send any further aide to Ukraine and will try to force Zelensky to surrender to the bald midget.

He has always been the hip pocket of the bald midget and nothing suggests he has changed his position.

He is a traitor and a coward.

@#1 ... RT, the Russian state media network ...

I remember a number of years ago, I used to visit the RT news site. It was quite good. Quality journalism.

Then Pres Putin did a purging, and the journalists left RT, leaving behind the Putin toadies.

And that is what RT has become.

Just another mouthpiece for Pres Putin.

"US conservative commentators say they are victims' of alleged Russian disinformation campaign;

The treasury department also sanctioned the RT's editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan, and nine other employees of the network over the aggeled campaign of disinformation around the elections.

Simonyan is a "central figure in Russian government malign influence efforts" the department alleged.

Conservative podcaster Tim Pool posted a statement on Twitter / X "regarding allegations and the DOJ Indictment", saying,

"Should these allegations prove true, I as well as the other personalities and commentators were deceived and are victims."

Funny how Putin's Trump stooges are always 'victims' when they are caught.

Yeah, the last thing they seem to admit is their apparent (willful?) ignorance.

This election interference operation represents a significant escalation from 2016. In 2016, Russia created social media groups; in 2023, it created a media company.

Trump appeared on Tim Pool's podcast in May. They discussed whether the war in Ukraine would lead to World War III, and Trump pledged to give "serious consideration" to pardoning Julian Assange -- two favorite themes of Russian propaganda efforts.

It says a lot that during the 2016 election Russia had to manufacture MAGA sock puppets and in 2024, they just had to throw big money at real-life MAGA puppets.

Quite an interesting story, learning that some of the most prominent right wing "influencers" have been on the payroll of the Putin regime. Just like everyone suspected. I think there will be more fallout as we go.

The bottom line is, you should be skeptical of anything a right-wing commentator says. They are quite literally being paid to lie.

They either knowingly spread the lies or they are too stupid to realize they are being used

As for their audience who aren't getting paid, I'm left to assume they are just stupid.

#16 | Posted by johnny_hotsauce at 2024-09-05 08:54 AM

#15 - of course he did. Pretty much everyone knows he's on Putin's payroll. If you don't believe Trump is a Russians agent then you probably followed these accounts that were just exposed as Russian puppets.

That would depend on who wins that war. If Trumpy wins you will never learn the truth. It will be buried. Or disappeared. Along with anyone who investigates it.

Speaks to the success of the 2016 campaign. Yet asking a MAGA to view this information and critically examine their blind support for their party is like asking a rabid dog to fetch your slippers.

Trump appears to think that this latest DOJ action agasint RT and their 'useful idiots' is Merrick Garland simply trying to resurrect "RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA..." from 2016. He has no clue as to what's been going on, or he's so deep into Putin's efforts to undermine the election that he has no choice but play dumb and pretend nothing is happening.
