Trump's Incomprehensible Child Care Comments Appear to Have Broken a Dam

Sara Libby, San Francisco Chronicle: Longtime Boston Globe columnist Mike Barnicle called out major newspapers' coverage of Trump on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Wednesday, suggesting they're sanitizing Trump's comments by simply describing them instead of allowing readers to see his actual words in their entirety.

He has the best specifics... no one has ever seen specifics like his... Obama tried specifics... you know like that time... it was so awful... nobody had ever seen anything like it was... a huge mess... thankfully Ivanka.... you know his beautiful daughter... if she was his mother... she could get along with Xi... and that's why... Marco Rubio... he calls him Little Marco... Awww well... that was a great answer... my mind is at rest

The woman who asked Trump the child care question was not one of the people clapping at his response:

Today I asked @realDonaldTrump what he would do to solve the child care crisis. His response? Incomprehensible at best; at worst, outrageously offensive to the millions of families drowning in costs.

I hope the dam has finally broken and that the term "sanewashing" will catch on too describe the way the media has been sanitizing Trump's words for way to long:

This "sanewashing" of Trump's statements isn't just poor journalism; it's a form of misinformation that poses a threat to democracy. By continually reframing Trump's incoherent and often dangerous rhetoric as conventional political discourse, major news outlets are failing in their duty to inform the public and are instead providing cover for increasingly erratic behavior from a former"and potentially future"president.

The consequences of this journalistic malpractice extend far beyond misleading headlines. By laundering Trump's words in this fashion, the media is actively participating in the erosion of our shared reality. When major news outlets consistently present a polished version of Trump's statements, they create an alternate narrative that exists alongside the unfiltered truth available on social media and in unedited footage.

Here's an example of how CNN sanewashed Trump's unhinged rally in WI today:

I doubt anything Trump says will effect the opinions of his MAGAt cultists.

Most aren't paying attention and their favorite sources for propaganda aren't reporting it.

Guess I'm going to be literally in church tomorrow praying that this is the dam busting event for Trump's supporters and that they can at last see how unmentally unstable and unfit he is.

Why Trump's Hannibal Lecter "weave" makes no sense at all:

@Acyn
Trump: When I say Doctor Hannibal Lecter, the press says, oh, why did he mention that? They say, he rambled and started talking about Hannibal Lecter. That's a representative of people that are coming into our country. Doctor Hannibal Lecter

He could have chosen any fictional character to represent migrants to America. And his view is that the average migrant is a highly intelligent, cultured, cannibalistic serial killer with refined tastes and impeccable manners.

This is serious and funny and definitely worth a watch:

There is a TikTok account for a group called TrumpWords where children quote Trump in videos and the group asks on its site; would you choose Trump as a role model for your kids?

Where's all the concern about Trump's age? Wasn't Biden's age a big issue with Republicans? "He's too old!"

Trump and Biden would have been in the same high school at the same time. Trump's a doddering geriatric. Time for the media to focus on Trump's age and mental acuity.

Rational, sane folks can easily tell Trump's a mental basket case.

The sanewashing will become even more dangerous as CBS News is now bought and owned by Maga Trump supporting billionaire Larry Elison. Goodbye 60 Minites. The Trump Maga oligarchs are realizing their complete coup of our county's news information. Already the plan is working effectively thru Fox to fool half the country that fascism is good.

"Trump is a deeply unwell man. He is a deeply psychologically disturbed individual. If he were a member of your family, you'd be taking him, you'd be staging an intervention and taking him into a psychiatric hospital. He is, as I've been saying, a narcissistic sociopath, a pathological narcissist and a sociopath as defined by the American Psychiatric Association. These are, historians will tell you, the traits of authoritarian dictators throughout history."

Oh we know it was. Joe Biden knows it was. And as it turns out he did the right thing. Infuriating republicans who thought they had him because Biden was too slow and Trumpy's mouth still works a mile a minute (even though only nonsense comes out).

Trumpy doesn't know it still is a huge issue for him. Because he has no good people around him brave enough to tell him the truth (he can't allow that!).

So he will never know.

Until it's too late. (If he ever knows.)

Dementia is like that.
