You can't think of James Earl Jones without hearing his voice. That booming basso profundo, conveying instant dignity or menace, was Jones' signature instrument. It brought power to all his stage and movie roles, most indelibly as Darth Vader in "Star Wars," Mufasa in "The Lion King and as the voice of CNN. That remarkable voice is just one of many things the world will miss about the beloved actor, who died Monday, according to his agent. He was 93.

Incredible displays of talent over so many years by a youthful stutterer helped along the way by a trusted teacher. Such a legacy. RIP

'The actor amassed nearly 200 screen credits during his brilliant 60-year career, starting some early-'60s TV guest roles and Stanley Kubrick's 1964 classic Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964).

He probably is best known for his voice role as the dastardly Darth Vader in George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy: Star Wars (1977) The Empire Strikes Back, 1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983).

He also reprised the villainous role in Star Wars: Episode III " Revenge of the Sith (2005), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Star Wars: Episode IX " The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and TV's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Rebels."

I think the last time he voiced Vader was for rogue one and it's fitting that the character will be shown once again in his prime.

One of my favorite stories about the great James Earl Jones is that when he did voiceovers, he asked for a bowl of fruit, and after his session was finished, he dumped all the fruit in his bag and left.

From the WaPo obit, Jones on how that teacher helped him with his stutter: "The written word is safe for the stutterer," he later observed. "The script is a sanctuary." This was a great actor, yes, and someone who understood a lot about himself. Well done, sir, beautifully done.

Not sure how I missed this. I am truly sad to read about it as well. A great actor, a great voice actor and from what I have heard a great person. Everyone mentions Darth Vader but that voice was everywhere. RIP
