Canadian Politicians Propose 100 Percent Tariffs on Teslas

"I have proposed a 100 percent tariff on all Teslas. I am calling on all the countries that are affected by this tariff to join us, and our retaliation will target specific Trump constituencies."

Tesla, whose chief executive, Elon Musk, has been advising President Trump on how to cut government spending, is likely to receive a lucrative contract to supply armored versions of its Cybertruck pickup to the State Department, according to public documents.

What's interesting is that many parking lots I have seen in Canada have electric engine block heater plugs, seems a natural fit for EV adoption.

I guess despite all the press Canadians really don't believe in global warming.

The funny thing about making Teslas more expensive it would be make them more popular.

That's how Tesla became an icon in silicon valley.

The model S was seen as the go-to for the executive class. Until everyone had a Tesla.

Now no one cares, they are a dime dozen.

Because charging a battery in subzero temperatures is very slow painstakingly process. Plugging in a block heater just heats up an element. There's a world of difference between the two.

The Ford Lightning pickups seem to work ok in the cold. A few of the mines here are running them.

EVs are not a good area in any cold climate country, especially Canada.

I see a lot of Teslas on the road here because I'm surrounded by a high concentration of Indians and Asians.

However, the largest concentration I see is the massive number of them parked in an abandoned mall parking lot. Unable to sell I guess?

A Tesla cost from $44,130 to over $200,000. And owning one apparently requires you to sign an NDA. And complaining about one can get you sued. By one of the richest men in the world. Apparently.

Possibly but those heater plugs are there to keep regular old fashioned internal combustiion engines warm enough so they will turn over and start in frigid weather. whether they could be adapted for charging in Canada's cold won't matter because with 100% tariffs no Canadian will buy a Tesla. Probably won't effect their worldwide sales numbers but what if they just extended the tariffs to all american vehicles ibcludibg trucks? trump wants a trade war? That is truely the dumbest idea ever. NAFTA was a great idea, trump's trade war is just f**king stupid! But so is Trump. that's the real problem.

Tesla still holds some appeal to the -------- class, but for anyone else not on the hate n' revenge circuit, the brand is a hard no. I have made it my goal to never knowingly purchase anything with which Musk or Trump name is associated.
