The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for trans minors in a blockbuster ruling that will bolster efforts by conservative state lawmakers to pass and preserve other divisive laws targeting transgender Americans.

Cutting a 15 year old boy's dong off is not going to save his life.

The "study" that claims this type of care saves lives is unscientific nonsense. Kids with gender confusion often suffer from other mental disorders. Immediately defaulting to "gender affirming care" often results in other disorders going untreated.

This is some very dark stuff and history will view this medical malpractice accordingly. It's barbaric and cruel.

The opinions of each justice are very interesting reads. I didn't read them all but I read some Alito and Sotomayor.

Alito's argument boils down to the fact this Tennessee law does not discriminate on the basis of sex in the context of how equal rights laws were ruled on and enforced.

Males and females are being treated equally, be it fair or not. Adolescent males and females seeking hormone therapy for transitioning are both being equally denied it. The basis of sex is upheld. The basis of transgender is not....but that's another kettle of beans to Alito. "With this background in mind, I do not think that
transgender status is sufficiently similar to race, national
origin, or sex to warrant a higher level of scrutiny."

Sotomayor disagrees........"What does that mean in practice? Simply that sex determines access to the covered medication. Physicians in Tennessee can prescribe hormones and puberty blockers to help a male child, but not a female child, look more like a boy;
and to help a female child, but not a male child, look more
like a girl."

They honestly think it's just parents pushing their kids to undergo big surgeries on a Tuesday and the kid hitting the operating room on Wednesday without even consenting.

It takes a host of psychologists and specialists signing off before even the most basic drug care can happen, let alone surgery. The surgery is nearly impossible to get. The drugs are still super difficult to get.

People are no longer allowed to mercilessly beat their children because laws were designed to override the will of some parents.

Some parents do stupid things... like allow their children to insert themselves into a lifetime of pill popping... for cosmetic purposes. Which is what happens with "gender affirming" care. Also... the fact is that there is little to suggest they have higher rates of suicide because there is not enough research into the matter. There is some indication they have higher rates of "suicidal ideation" but not suicide itself. That could be related to the prevalence of autism in the ranks. The potential suicide argument doesn't have legs for the race.

I mean all odd balls... whatever makes them that... are singled out in high school... but once you get through that gauntlet... life usually improves.

I realize they are vulnerable... for a variety of reasons... some of them self-inflicted... such as a high percentage of them engage in sex work to pay for the maintenance of the expensive illusion... It's a high-risk, lonely lifestyle. Their dating pool is also small because most people have preferences they don't need to justify or apologise for and the trans person took themselves out of the game for most people. A lot of hurt feelings.
