I just want to highlight the optics of having college dropout Charlie Kirk speak at a college.

Now, if he were a Bill Gates, who chose an emerging industry over college, that would be something else.

Charlie Kirk chose being an Influencer and a Community Organizer over finishing college.

He's a tool, a mouthpiece for Christian White Fascism. One of the many tells is he refers to liberal ideas like equal rights as "poisoning our youth with anti-American ideas" and his support for "America-first education."

America has several power centers-the White House, Congress Supreme Court, etc.

These people forget that there is another power in this country.

They act corruptly, immorally, with a self-perception of immunity.

They think they can exact unending pain upon the citizens.

They think they can impose fascism on us.

They think they can lie and disenfranchise the citizens.

Because they think they hold all of the power.

But there is another power that exists, actually multiple powers

And at the very basic is the violence of the individual who can change the course of history and enact radical change

They can inflict pain on those in power.

Those in power think they are immune from this.

They are not

BTW this is CLEARLY god's retribution for Kirk supporting -------- 2020 election lie

Deuteronomy 17:8-12 instructs that difficult legal cases, too hard for local judges to resolve, should be brought to a higher court at the place the Lord will choose. There, they were to be decided by Levitical priests and the presiding judge, and their verdict was final and mandatory, with disobedience resulting in death.

In 2024, Kirk cited Leviticus 20:13 ("If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them") as "God's perfect law when it comes to sexual matters"

So, it is CLEAR that Kirk is an advocate for strict reading of the bible.

Since Kirk went against the courts over -------- 2020 election fraud claims, it is clear, BY HIS OWN BELIEFS, that he should be put to death.

I suppose god does work in mysterious ways, this time in the hands of an old man and a rifle.

The POTUS is acting lawlessly and violently.

He is murdering people, against all laws

He is grabbing people off the streets and rendering them to concentration camps or to war zones

He is assaulting America's freedoms in a thousand ways.

There WILL be blowback. You can only push people so far before they push back.

People have power. This shooter had power and used it. It is the foundation of the right's wrong thinking about the 2nd Amendment, that each individual American has the right to thwart tyranny with violence.

I am decidedly not advocating for such violence, I am saying it is an inevitable reaction to the implementation of fascism.

Sad - read how the Democrats and radical leftists have always believed they have an unfettered right to control society and assassinate and control politics and take out any political opposition. How many times have we seen it happen at institutions and to others such as Trump. This is a bad omen to those in society who have come to believe they have this unfettered right of power like the riots of 2020 and shooting the CEO health insurance and allowing criminal trash to run rampant and harm others. The stupid political hyper leftists radicals of society have been doing it globally since Lincoln assassination. Even Sen Fetterman has had enough of the wild eyed Democrats and their hate of others. If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn't a match in dry grass, it's a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.

I've been writing about what I call "slow civil war" for some years now. This won't tip us into the fast kind but it could bring us much closer. & friends, nobody would win that war. Nobody.

This is not some kumbaya "go high" ----. It's me telling you when I've had a gun pointed at me"literally, not figuratively"it wasn't the time to posture. Fascism's guns are at the ready. Think before you spout off. Winning the struggle against fascism is what matters.

WTH?? Our country was founded upon political violence. From our inception our violence is what freed us to the violence of characters such as Aaron Burr to the killings Lincoln,McKinley to the assassination attempt of Teddy Roosevelt to Kennedy and Reagan. We've always had political violence. It's our bread and butter sadly.

#125 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-09-10 04:11 PM

Nobody deserves to be targeted by political violence. As happened several times in the 1960s, assassinations cause terrible damage to the psyche of this country.

This is true today and was true when prominent people on the right made a joke out of the savage attack on Paul Pelosi, including one who called on a "midterm hero" to bail out the attacker.

#126 | Posted by rcade at 2025-09-10 04:12 PM

But this time it's a disaster of major proportions.

The guy being shown under arrest kept mumbling "I have the right to remain silent" over and over.

He wasn't in a building, though. Video of Kirk throwing hats to the crowd before he sat down shows a two- or three-story building to his right close to his location and dangerous from a security perspective.

#130 | Posted by rcade at 2025-09-10 04:15 PM

And that's perfectly in line with their faux victim complex, "never let a crisis go to waste" mentality.

In a follow-up question, the attender asks: "Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?" Kirk replies: "Counting or not counting gang violence?" Seconds later, Kirk could be seen struck in the neck as he falls back in his chair.

Trump's shooter used a .223, which was an objectively poor choice for that shot. I think Trump owes his life, in part, to that choice.

Today's assassination was a 200 yd shot and, judging by the video, was definitely not a .223.

I think this contrasts a person who didn't know much about guns to this case where I think the shooter is much more familiar.

You're so desperate for these to be the same.

But they're not.

Your boy Trump staged an event to make himself look like a victim and a hero.

Charlie Kirk got shot on the neck.

Here you are trying to spin them to be the same thing.

Really pathetic.

#205 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-09-10 05:04 PM

And looking at the blood pouring out of ol' Charlie's neckbone. Now that wasn't staged.

BUT THAT DOESN'T STOP IDIOT MAGATS FROM BLAMING THE SHOOTING ON DEMOCRATS, NOW DOES IT.

#234 | Posted by Corky at 2025-09-10 05:24 PM

Trump's shooter used a .223, which was an objectively poor choice for that shot. I think Trump owes his life, in part, to that choice.
Today's assassination was a 200 yd shot and, judging by the video, was definitely not a .223.
I think this contrasts a person who didn't know much about guns to this case where I think the shooter is much more familiar.
#196 | Posted by horstngraben

It's hard to care about a guy like Kirk who claims and supports others who claim trans people are evil, gay people are evil, Dems are evil, Muslims are evil, and immigrants are evil. And then he and the people he supports literally support the killing of people in these groups.

It's hard to care when the very actions that could prevent these shootings like gun control are completely opposed by Kirk and his ilk and he says these shootings are acceptable.

It's hard to care when Republicans who demonize everyone suddenly talk about toning down the rhetoric but at the same time fill their ranks with people like Lara Loomer who claim all Dems should not be arrested after Kirk's shooting.

It's hard to care when Republicans, especially MAGAts, tried to first pretend the assassin of the Minnesota lawmakers was a Democrat then simply ignored it when that story proved untrue.

I will give Charlie Kirk the exact same support he gave school children shot and killed: Nothing.
I will give Charlie Kirk the exact same support he gave minority groups he supported killing: Nothing.

The only thing I've said on that was that it was, IMO, the more likely explanation given what little information was ever released and, most importantly, the mountain of information that was never released.

It was a hugely strange ordeal that just *poof* went away once Trump was done wearing the ear gauze at the convention.

Far far too quick and quiet a matter considering it was an attempted assassination of a former POTUS who was the current candidate and who is, by their nature, a constant seeker of the limelight.

In any case, STFU about it. Go enjoy your bourbon.

But Democrats are to blame?

New rules for firearms on campus

Utah lawmakers updated state law governing firearms during the 2025 General Session.

Under the changes in HB 128, which went into effect on May 7, individuals who are 18 years old or older and have a current Utah concealed weapon permit (CWP) may carry a weapon on campus, including in an "open" fashion.

"Our highest priority is preserving public safety on campus," said Keith Squires, chief safety officer. "As a subdivision of the state, the University of Utah enforces state law, including weapon rules. Equally important is our role in educating members of our campus community about how to responsibly carry a firearm on campus and how to engage with roommates, professors and others to avoid conflicts and misunderstandings."

Utah has been an open or "constitutional carry" state since 2021. Prior to the passage of HB 128 during the 2025 Utah Legislature, those who wanted to carry a firearm on campus were required to keep it concealed. The new law makes it clear that Utahns 18 years or older, who have a concealed weapon permit, may carry a firearm concealed or openly on campus. University of Utah Police will confirm that those carrying openly on campus have a concealed weapon permit.

It didn't look like a solid shot (his body took all the energy) to me and I think the shooter got a little lucky.

The wound and his response makes me think 60-70 grains at that distance is on the lighter side.

I probably shouldn't have said definitely, lol.

Perhaps is you read the thread as much as you typed on it....

"I think it's worth it to have the cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have our 2nd Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Having an armed citizenry comes with a price, and that is part of liberty."

" you believe Trump's deal was staged?"

I keep trying not to, but the unanswered questions abound:

When seen without the tea bag, there never appeared to be any damage. Wounds don't heal that fast.

Additionally, cartilage doesn't grow back.

The presiding doctors never had a press conference. After an assassination attempt?!? That's never happened in ANYBODY's lifetime.

SS scurried photographers into place.

A crane LOWERED an American flag.

SS violated protocol by allowing the subject to stand, and get back in the line of fire.

To all those facts: Why? What's the explanation?

Nice selective reading.

The call was for targeting "leftist groups" who organize "radical protests." From that person, the word radical is meaningless and can be taken to mean all protests she deems from "the left."

I'll give you a hint:

Kirk was too stupid and lazy to get into Westpoint but when he got rejected, he was a crybaby. He got his start by publishing in his school newspaper an opinion piece saying he didn't get into West Point because some black girl took his spot. Evidence presented? None.

Breitbart took it and ran with it.

That's how the Kirk BS machine started and never stopped. Hate Trans, Hate Gays, Hate Minorities, Hate Dems, Hate Immigrants. It was the Kirk hate machine.

If a campus group invites somebody to speak on campus, public universities are extremely reluctant to interfere with that. Particularly at this time, I don't think a university is going to reject right-wing speakers.

Richard Spencer, an avowed white nationalist, was allowed to speak at UF a few years ago.

#325 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2025-09-10 06:27 PM

Incredible, you think this guy deserved it ....

I disagreed with Charlie Kirk on just about everything. But, we shared an opposition to "gender identity" and the abolition of sex.
He once had me on his show to discuss it. He was polite, outgoing, and funny.
During the interview, I said something about the "TQIA." He exclaimed, "I don't know what any of that means!" I said, "Don't worry, nobody does."
He and his entire audience laughed.
I am not a Republican, and I am certainly not MAGA. But I am grieving his death in part because he was a human being, in part because he leaves behind a wife and two children, and in part because of what this says about American society.
I will not take any part in any political violence, and I will stand with anyone, wherever they stand on the political spectrum, who will denounce it.
I hope America can recover from this.

EDIT: I will block anyone who comes on here to glorify violence.

Or Not:

"New York Times reporting: The New York Times reported that Patel posted the update confirming the shooter was in custody but later, multiple law enforcement sources indicated the suspect was still at large.

CBS News reporting: In a live update, CBS News confirmed that no suspect was in custody and that a search was still underway, citing three sources familiar with the investigation. This contradicted earlier reports from the university and Patel's social media post."

Fox News is certainly playing it up.

Dubbing Kirk an "American Martyr" and the substory of "Charlie Kirk's assassination latest case of conservatives being targeted for murder."

I'm curious what their coverage of the Minnesota shootings was. Probably focused on the shooter being a Waltz "appointee"...

No, a 200-yard shot with a high-powered rifle is not rare for experienced shooters and hunting scenarios; it's a common and achievable distance for which rifles are often tested and zeroed, as even a basic understanding of ballistics shows the rifle is capable of this accuracy.
