Hortman made a compromise with the Republican who she shared the speakership with because they were trying to remove paid sick leave, reproductive freedom and clean energy goals. If the budget did not get passed, the government would have shut down.

FYI, Hoffman and his wife were shot 5 or 6 times each. Wife covered their daughter to protect her. They made it through surgery and are expected to survive.

Not suspected of having an accomplice. Timeline is around 2 am Hoffman and wife shot in Champlin. About an hour and a half later, Champlin police realized that another legistator lived close by (6 miles away) and decided to to check on her, found vehicle with flashing lights in driveway and suspect coming out of her house. He went back in the house and out the back door.

He was appointed by previous Gov and Walz let him continue. Suspect is trained in security.

Just reported they have a 57yo man as a suspect.

Local news is reporting that they likely know who the shooter is because he left his vehicle behind so they know who the vehicle is registered to. Also just reported Senator Tina Smith was on the list.

Police saying suspect is a white man with brown hair, dressed in blue, impersonating a police officer, armed and willing to shoot. So if someone sees something else being reported, it is fake news.

Like I said, I am in MN, I have been listening and reading reports on this event live since early this morning. Not ONCE has there been any reporting on how these politicians have voted on any recent legislation. It has been reported that in addition to other potential targets the manifesto contains motive. So maybe we should wait until law enforcement is ready to disclose that information.

I live in MN. What is being reported is police first responded to the Hoffman shooting. The police knew Hortman lived closed by so they went to check on her. There was a black SUV with light flashing parked in her driveway, and they came face to face with the shooter who engaged in a gunfight. He went back in the house and now there is a manhunt. They found a manifesto in the vehicle with a list of other democratic targets. The shooter was impersonating a police officer. Police were warning legislators to not open the door unless there are 2 officers knocking.
