Here is a hint for you - I said that the tariffs would be eaten by manufacturers and middlemen - and I have been 100% correct. So, here is the 'why'. A vast majority of the goods imported from China are low value goods with HIGHLY ELASTIC demand curves. Thus, when a tariff is applied, that tariff will be eaten by the manufacturer/middleman because they do not have the power to pass on price increases. This is exactly what has been observed. So, we got 2 impacts - 1.) demand for these goods cratered (people went with substitute products) and 2.) those that continued to sell did so by eating the tariffs - which is seen on the record tariff collections.

Again, this is economics 101 so it is no surprise you and the liberal fools like Krugman completely botched it.
