"I guess the only thing I'm guilty of is admitting to doing something I never did,"

Yep. I guess you lied.

"to shield himself and his former platoon members from being probed over a gunshot wound that he said he received while in Afghanistan in 2012."

Thank you for your service.

Sheehan taught us that he will comfortably lie to law enforcement to cover-up an embarrassing circumstance.

This is a requirement for 'rising stars' in the GQP.

Nothing to see here, move along....

At least Sheehy didn't shoot his eye out like that turd who founded the Oath Keepers.

he had shot himself in the right arm after his Colt .45 revolver fell to the ground and discharged

That sounds like bull. More like he tried to catch it and pulled the trigger.

If he'd done that, he'd have been a lot closer to a better chance of taking a dirt nap.

If he was a democrat, it would matter.

The Ranger and hospital staff didn't think it odd that there wasn't an open wound? What am I missing? Barney Fife and Doctor Magoo on the scene?

FTA: "Sheehy told the newspaper that he fell and injured himself during a 2015 hike at Glacier National Park, which prompted a hospital visit. While at the hospital, he informed the staff that there was a bullet lodged in his arm, which led to him being questioned by the ranger."

What am I missing?

There is definitely something strange about this story.

It's becoming a thing:

Conservative lawyer George Conway wrote on X, "Let those among you who have not lied about lying about shooting yourselves in the arm in a national park in order to cover up not faking a combat wound"or something like that, I can't quite figure it out"cast the first stone."
And then:
X user and author D. Earl Stephens wrote, "So the dude doesn't know where he is getting shot, who's doing it, or if he's even getting shot at all. If this is confusing you it should, because apparently that's how this SOB wants it. Basically we know this: He's completely full of s***, and his story will probably change again by tomorrow.
Or this:
Former Montana legislator and candidate for Congress Tom Winter wrote on X, "So has Tim Sheehy admitted that (in that particular tourist-in-Montana way, you know the ones) he had an unsecured, loaded gun just rolling around the back of the family car on a road trip through Glacier Park 'because of the bears'? What other dumb**** reason could there be?"
But at least he has supposrt:
In regards to possibly being charged with lying to National Park Service rangers, a lawyer for Sheehy, Daniel Watkins, told the newspaper that because no crime had taken place, Sheehy did not impede or obstruct a law enforcement investigation. Sheehy's changed account comes as Republicans believe he's their best bet to win the Montana seat.

I wonder how long until he quits?

If this liar gets elected, Der Dotard will award him a Purplish Heart and thank him for his service...

Der Dotard will award him a Purplish Heart

He already has one.

So this guy engaged in a military cover up and then lied to federal law enforcement on top of it?

Anyone voting for him is admitting they don't care about integrity and honest from governmental officials.

Yellowstone fans will love him. He's one of those rich outsiders that move to Montana, buy up a lot of expensive property, and become "part time" ranchers.

Started up an aerospace company the same month he retired from the Navy with the cash he saved up as a 2lt. He's worth $50-$200 Million these days.

This guy is the perfect GOP candidate: A loud-mouthed opportunist-grifter with a fake gunshot wound story. Whaaaat, no grizzly bear, sea serpent, or yeti attacks? Garbage in, garbage out.

This guy is the perfect GOP candidate

Probably why they recruited him. He apparently had little to no interest in politics. Wounded vet status is a big head start out of the gate.
