Record rains that inundated the United Arab Emirates and surrounding countries, killing at least 18 people in Oman and bringing air travel to a standstill in Dubai, were expected to continue into Wednesday, the authorities said. Dubai typically records around five inches of rain in a year. The deluge that fell by Tuesday evening alone equaled that amount.

For the United Arab Emirates, it was the largest rainfall event in 75 years, the country's National Center of Meteorology and the government announced on social media.
Nothing to see here folks, everything's normal, just keep moving along ... and try not to drown.

LOL the loons on X are claiming it's because of cloud seeding and chemtrails.

Anything but admit the possibilities of climate change.

It's a good thing. Running out of water is a problem there.

Sure, it's climate change, which man has no control over.

I'm more worried about plastics than climate.

Man has a lot to do with climate change, your ignorance of the subject matter is astounding.

People like Boaz used to piss me off.
Now I chalk up people like Boaz anymore to
'the willfully ignorant' or just outright
Trolling by ------- on the right.

The data is in. There is 99% scientific
consensus upon the issue. Mankind has had a direct and
detrimental affect upon the environment.

That other 1%? Scientists owned by the Oil
and Fossil Fuel Lobby.

This is true, since UAE & Dubai was actively seeding clouds to make it rain.

Though they aren't getting credit for this, which is odd.

A good journalistic read on cloud seeding from Time

FTA:
UAE meteorological officials say that their cloud seeding operations can increase rainfall by 10-30%, while Californian authorities' estimates for their own program sit at 5-10%. The Desert Research Institute (DRI), the state of Nevada's research group, says cloud seeding can increase seasonal precipitation by about 10%, while the World Meteorological Organization assessed in 2019 that the impacts of cloud seeding range from next to nothing to 20%. And success in producing rain depends significantly on atmospheric conditions such as wind and cloud temperatures.

I was in Greece last year for their record rainfall at a time that is supposed to be sunny and dry. One area just North of Athens had 24" in 24 hours. About 20" fell in about 3 hours. Many homes in the region ended up completely under water. The next day, I myself was on the Acropolis when the skies opened up. It was a rain storm like very few I have witnessed. Raining so hard it was coming through the umbrella. Our guide basically freaked out. Nothing like being on the highest point with lightning coming down around you and no quick way out. Well over 1000 People huddled up in the single file line to get down on slippery stone path. She said she had never ever seen anything like it in her 20 years of leading tours. I later heard it was 6" in about 30 minutes. It was the result of the Jet Stream making a highly unusual dip. This is the same system that moved on to hit Libya and North Africa causing record flooding there too.

This is just localized weather but part of the extreme weather events predicted in all the models. Records are falling all the time now so get used to it. We have had a few record days this year already. Look at California precipitation of the last couple of years. etc. etc.

It's not very likely that cloud seeding is going to generate that much rain.

Right now I am more worried about our democratic institutions than plastic OR climate change. This election will either make both situations better or much worse.

Death Valley California has gotten 259% of its yearly total rainfall already this year.

I think it's fitting and proper that a major oil producing country like the UAE get to feel the effects of its product on the climate for a change.

You are just scared a Republican is going to get in and represent someone else other than you.

Too bad a Republican isn't actually running.

The only person I see running for Republicans is an ignorant traitorous criminally indicted insurrectionist trying to stay out of prison.

A president is supposed to represent ALL Americans not just maga maroons or worse single them out for harassment.

You are right. Trump does not represent me or my values.
