Seems a bit excessive.

Given the crime, and relatively mild nature compared to those getting much less time.

Don't prosecutors always ask for the max, knowing they won't get it?

No, they usually ask for something closer to the guidelines.

This IS grossly excessive, especially considering nobody died. It should probably be about 10 years total.

He is a threat to humanity, he should spend the rest of his life in prison or in an institution. This was not a spur-of-the-moment event where he lost his temper and assaulted the victim in a fit of rage. He plotted to assassinate the Speaker of the House. He had to find out where she lived and showed up in the middle of the night prepared to kidnap her with zip ties and a hammer, and broke into her house in order to torture her, and murder her. Those are ALL aggravating factors. His intent means that he committed, if he were in Washington, the crimes of Burglary 1 (for being armed at the time of the crime), Kidnapping 1, Assault 1, Attempted Murder for crimes against Paul, and Attempted Kidnap 1, and Attempted Murder against Nancy. In Washington, Kidnapping is a Class A felony with a similar penalty to murder. In this state, the standard range would be at least 50 years. No not ridiculous at all.

I didn't catch the testimony. Did this fool say he was getting mental messages from Donald Trump?

He is an undocumented immigrant, he can't vote. He is also a certifiably nuts. I'm surprised he didn't plea insanity.

For quite a while, the MAGA wing of the MAGA-loving party insisted the assailant was Paul Pelosi's gay lover, and the whole thing was a lover's quarrel.

LMAO
The pics circulated by the press had Paul standing next to the guy in his boxers holding a short drink smiling his ass off in one of them. I can see the confusion.

@#9 ... The pics circulated by the press ...

Please allow me to ask your current alias a simple question ....

If it should ever be charged with a crime, would it want to be judged in a Court of Law, or in the court of public opinion?

What say it?

Yer up....

Batdorf And Rodney - Home Again (1971)

Wow, tuff finding a lyrics site.

...
Home Again
Opened up the daylight found me
Sitting underneath an old tree
Clearing up what once was cloudy
Knowing most of all, I'm happy

All my life, I've waited for this day,
I am home again
And oh my life, you helped me find the way
I am home again

Have a new direction facing
Now I'm sought instead of chasing
Time to slow down no more racing
Spend some time at home, embracing

All my life, I've waited for this day,
I am home again
And oh my life, you helped me find the way
I am home again
...

I would really like to know the real story of how this guy was in the house when Nancy wasn't home. Like you state, the photos seem to show that everything was not as claimed by Mr. Pelosi!

OK, I was wrong. The wackos in the MAGA wing continue to make the claim.

#14 Props for admitting wrong. hardly anybody here does that.

The media were horribly irresponsible with their initial reporting of the attack. When the video coverage was released the whole thing looked quite harrowing.

Patricide Jeff's child-raping hero made jokes about Paul Pelosi having his skull fractured.

LMAO! So now the right-wingers are saying it was "the media" that was to blame for how pathetically inhumane they were in their lies about this?
Had "the media" been more forthcoming in the utter violence, perhaps by sharing images of the attack and lots of blood, they wouldn't have been enormous jackasses?
I'm calling bullshht on that for the obvious reason and because they just proved they didn't watch any actual NEWS reporting on the story, but rather got all their "news" from the right-wing propagation liars.

I had a really good idea of how violent it was from all the reporting, the time Mr. Pelosi was in the hospital, when he finally appeared in public, etc. It's why I was utterly contemptuous of people like LftHnd and Jeff over their constant lying (oops, I mean repeating the lies they chose to believe over reality).

The initial reporting came from the MSM and it was horribly irresponsible click bait.

Remember when it was reported that Pelosi had someone else in the house with him besides the attacker? I do.

I remember the actual and factual reporting based on what was known.
You were already knee deep in gay lover and other nonsense.
