They put a stake through neoliberalism. Now, the vice president has to convince voters that her antitrust, trade, and public investment policies, unlike Trump's, will improve their lives.

Harris has a profound opportunity to present herself as a change agent while embracing Joe Biden's legacy. To do that, she must do a better job than the president in explaining how their administration has been rebalancing power in favor of the little guy. It's a populist revolution that most people have never heard of.

One reason most voters and much of the media are oblivious to this story is that Biden has always viewed himself, and been viewed by others, as an institutionalist who values regular order and working across the aisle. Yet when Biden first sat behind the Resolute Desk in 2021, he made appointments and policy changes that challenged principles that elites in both parties have used for 40 years to entrench their power and privilege.

These principles have gone under different banners in different decades. In the 1990s, policy wonks often referred to them as "the Washington Consensus." Today, the mindset is called "neoliberalism," a core belief that market capitalism is a self-stabilizing system and that if left undisturbed by government regulation, it will spread broad prosperity and freedom across the globe.

Trump, Est Republicans, the Leo Leonards of the world, all a part of Neoliberalism, which is an attempt to return to the Gilded Age and the Robber Barons... it's the billionaires dream, made partly true with the Corporate Personhood in Citizens United.

The cruelly ironic part is that the Populist Movement that powered TR and FDR's reforms that staved off the Great Depression and won the Second World War...

... today's rwing populists have been conned into believing that Trump is for the Populists, not for himself and other Billionaire International Corporations.

This "improvement" has to overcome inflation.

Also the US debt servicing will continue to spiral higher and higher.

The next President will suffer worse than Biden's experience. It's one where you hope Harris wins, but the damage via the US debt servicing will do will set back Democrats for decades.

It's a populist revolution that most people have never heard of.

What a stupid statement.

I'd like to see some actual anti trust activity from the administration. Welcome change from the laewfare and criminalization of mostly peaceful protests.

LOL... Here's a thought: Let's have Trumpanzee and Harris discuss this during the debate.

RIGHT/TRITE

"Let's have Trumpanzee and Harris discuss this during the debate."

In three minute clips? That wouldn't be possible even if Trump understood the big words.

Plus, the word "debate" is a misnomer. It's a mud-slinging contest.

Yeah but they usually sling mud while talking about their plans to address the issue. Trumpanzee can't talk issues.

Yet you constantly advocate for those who did the most to increase that debt through unfunded tax cuts, mostly for their wealthiest benefactors.

What a stupid statement...

Lying is all you have left WhatLeft, you lied about Biden's cognitive function.

I constantly advocate for OpenBorders, Defunding the Police, more Gun restrictions, more infrastructure, cashless bail.

Here's a better thought, you don't want Harris to get into details about anything, I mean anything.

Look if it was my man Pete, no problem the guy is an out right stud he'd run rings round any Republican.

But the elite democrats chose Harris, your voice on the issue is for ----.

"the elite democrats chose Harris"

Clearly the non-elite Democrats are fine with that.

If you'll notice, the only folks upset are righties, and faux lefties.

"If you'll notice, the only folks upset are righties, and faux lefties."

Yep, ever since they passed the Inflation Reduction Act and proved that they are happy with passing legislation that has nothing to do with the name of it, the inevitable result will be a bunch of sheep who will believe anything as long as they ignore all context. This entire article ignores so much context that it's truly sad people read it and think things are rainbows and unicorns.

Partisan politics has become nothing more than a way to hide context from voters of that party. Instead of doing research to validate what the media says, people just accept it as gospel.

And that's why we need to split as a country and move our separate ways. Dems don't like America's laws and Constitution, so they should be free to go create their own. Reps don't like that the other party wants to govern based off of demographics, so they should be free to govern for all and not favor people based only on their demographics. All of this can be done amicably. And, until it happens, this country will continue to just spiral because of what both parties have caused. The federal government was built to only mediate over state disputes but the country hasn't been this way for over 100 years. Now, both parties want the federal government to get involved whenever the other party does something they don't like. Which means our system of government is now only about how to solve arguments between people acting like children.

Yeah.

Because it has resulted in the spread of freedom and prosperity across the globe.

You are a self-admitted, evil, Neo-Confederate, sumbitch.

Anyone who wants to split the country up is, well, and enemy of the country.

Glad that you've outed yourself. Always better to have a snake in the open.

In addition to your many other virtues, you're stupid.

No, you don't have permission to divide up our (obviously not your) homeland. Quite a few of us are rather attached to it.
