Frank Bruni - Poor Trump. Always forced to compete on an uneven playing field. Of all his feats of projection, which is psychology's term for seeing your own methods and motivations in someone else, none fascinates me more than his incessant insistence that every one of his adversaries - that everyone, period - is the beneficiary of some scheme or scam that puts him at a disadvantage. If he triumphs nonetheless? It's a testament to his peerless might. If he doesn't? It was never a fair fight.

He's the prince of self-pity, the bard of bellyaching, reportedly worked up over the imagined injustice or trickery of Harris's late replacement of President Biden on the Democratic ticket. The more assertively Trump presses a complaint, the more you know it's bunk. He operates on the theory that if you're selling falsehoods, peddle like the wind; your audience might well assume that you'd never speak that extravagantly and be that audacious if there weren't some legitimacy to your claim.

So it is with his underdog yap - his pantomime of Cinderella when he's really her wickedest stepsister.

He was born to a rich family. His father's money and connections greased the start of his career. Legions of lawyers helped him skate away from bankruptcies and bad behavior. The moral cratering of the Republican Party gave him license to do and coup as he pleased. Friendly judges - including on the Supreme Court - afforded him impunity.

The forces arrayed against him are infinite and omnipotent. When children exhibit persecution complexes this severe, they're sent to their rooms or to a therapist. Trump may be sent to the White House - for a second time. Woe is us.

If the GQP did not have perpetual victimhood they would have nothing at all.

Trump does say "it's unfair" quite often, especially when he pulls the short straw.

Whether or not he knows truth from fiction at his advanced stage in life is becoming less and less debatable.

Nonetheless, not a good quality in a man who considers himself qualified to be the most powerful leader in the world.

After his last string of compulsive lying (162 in 90 minutes) which is killing his campaign, I would be surprised if his staff wasn't keeping him under wraps until some medication kicks in.

So weird that the MAGAts picked such a whining loser as their cult leader. How many times does he have to prove how incompetent he is before they give him up?

Poor fella. He only inherited $400 million from daddy and faked his way into undeserved fame. Life is just so tough sometimes.

If Trump sees this? Red, runny ketsup splattered walls at Mar A Lago

Turns out, he only got about 2500 people at his Bozeman, MT rally. They shoved anyone in the risers to the front to give the appearance of a full house. It wasn't. Not by a country mile.

Just look at that tiny crowd in Bozeman, Montana. The people of Montana must have better things to do on a Friday night rather than attending a rally of Trump's tired old hits. Trump must be having flashbacks to his inauguration.pic.twitter.com/wKuqxlb4Iu

With a population of 52,000 (2023) and change when everybody's home and counting dogs, cats and kids, Bozeman did seem like a strange decision. Maybe a congress critter is from around those parts and needed a PickMeUp, I'm falling.

Don't think they are headed for Moscow, but if they can hold some territory, they may be able to trade it for their own territory that Russia claims.

Pretty chancy, but they don't have a lot of good options.

I have never seen more volcanic, pathetic self-pity in a man. Trump revels in his own grievance. Real men don't wallow in self-pity.

I watched that video of him on the golf cart, apparently calling Kamala a B*.. I couldn't catch the remark, but his condescending, lecturing tone.. I find him to be the most vile example of a human being. He is the fat Baron from Dune! A truly loathsome creature, afforded every privilege in life from his birthright. Spoiled, fat, indulgent, cruel, dishonest, conniving, gloating, hyperbolizing, disloyal, greedy and vain! (this is how I really feel) what a bizzarro world that he has almost half the country fawning over him in a cult like manner.
