... In a statement Tuesday, the union said the complaint centered on disparaging comments made by Trump on the platform, formerly known as Twitter, about striking workers. Trump suggested that employers could fire workers for going on strike.

The move escalates an ongoing feud between Trump and Musk as the former president tries to win over Midwestern swing-state voters who backed him in 2016 but defected in 2020. It also exposes both men to legal repercussions from the National Labor Relations Board.

"I look at what you do," Trump said to Musk in the interview. "You walk in and you just say, You wanna quit?' They go on strike, I won't mention the name of the company, but they go on strike, and you say That's OK, you're all gone. You're all gone. So every one of you is gone.'"

Trump's statement is a clear violation of federal protections for workers, said Sharon Block, a former Democratic member of the NLRB. Employers are banned from making statements that intimidate employees out of exercizing their protected rights, which includes collective action. ...

Here's the reason for Trump's disparaging remarks.

The UAW endorsed Kamala Harris.

Amazing the teamsters are still undecided on an endorsement for president after that statement. The fact that they are still undecided is also amazing. How a union member could vote for someone like Trump is madness.

True. But the visual and audio of the world's richest man - whose chief source of wealth comes from non-union built EVs - and the self-described billionaire stable genius populist hero gleefully talking about firing workers who dare try to organize in their workplace may turn out to be the actual moment Trump's hold over blue collar white union members is finally fraying if not outright shredded.

And with Trump's signature line already being "You're fired" he proves the malevolence in his heart as a business owner who treats employees as disposable simply for wanting to better their own financial situations and quality of life.

I simply don't see a way that this jibes with all of his promises to support workers. And there is nothing dues-paying union members dislike more than scabs in their workplace, freeloading off the contract THEY negotiated without contributing themselves, and management that openly mocks and discounts the union worker's contributions to the business' success and wealth creation.

imo, how or why a person votes they way they do is between that person and the voting booth.

No one else.

Here's more of what got Trump so hot under the collar:uaw.org

UAW Launches Major Digital and Field Campaign to Defeat Trump in November"

FTA

The UAW is launching its most ambitious political program in decades for an all-out effort to elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States. The Union's program will include mobilizing UAW members online, at worksites, and in the field with a door-to-door program to reach members, retirees, and their families around a pro-worker, anti-Corporate Greed agenda.

On Wednesday, August 14, members will join a mass mobilization call to hear what's at stake in this election, our union's top issues, and how we're building a movement to win against the billionaire class in November and beyond.

At UAWStandUp2024.org, UAW members will find resources, videos, flyers, and links to factual information around the candidates' records, and why the UAW is ready to stand up, speak up, and show up in November.

The Union's one million active and retired members will form a core base of support for the Harris-Walz campaign and will provide a major piece of the campaign's margin of victory in Michigan, and in key Congressional races in battleground states like Ohio, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. In 2020, the UAW's membership accounted for 9.2% of Biden-Harris' votes in Michigan alone.

The UAW's plan to win stems from the vision that launched 2023's Stand Up strike and movement. By putting out the facts, uniting the working class, and letting members lead the way, the UAW's "Stand Up, Speak Up, Show Up" campaign will mobilize a mass campaign to defeat the billionaire class at the ballot box.

That's where my opinion diverges.

Succinctly, what the union leadership states may not convey into the voting booth when the union members vote.

Stated differently, how many of those union members are in the MAGA cult? And how many of those union members are going to listen to their leader, or the leader of their cult?

You underestimate the blue collar male's desire for masculinity.

As long as the republican party can sell themselves as the MANLY party and democrats as the gay/women party, many dumb insecure men will vote against their own interests.

Republicans need to sue the mainstream news media for ommisions and lies.

Unions make the mistake of turning leadership into corrupt permanent royalty. They need to be term limited. The longer they are there the more corrupt they become.

Since the pandemic, most of the major unions either elected new presidents and leadership teams (UAW/Teamsters/LIUNA) or legacy leadership has stepped aside or retired.

Come into the 2020s Robson. It's a different world.

You can't sue someone for what they didn't say or write Robson.

Just where do you get your whacky ideas, out of a Fruit Loops box?
