Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, September 27, 2024

It's beginning to feel like 2016 all over again. Donald Trump is locked in a heated presidential race versus a Democratic nominee who could make history as the first female President of the United States.

Polls show a tighter race than expected -- especially given Trump's open racism, sexism and bigotry that many thought would sink his campaign.

And when you turn on cable news or read an article about the race, it's all Trump, all the time.

Except, of course, when the media is criticizing the Democratic nominee.

"How much did corporate media help Trump in 2016?

As studies after the 2016 election documented, Trump was provided with more than $5 billion in free media coverage.

For context, that was more free media than Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio received in the 2016 campaign COMBINED-- according to data from tracking firm mediaQuant.

Why was Trump gifted such a massive amount of free corporate media coverage?

The then head of CBS Les Moonves candidly answered that during the 2016 campaign, telling us Trump "may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS."

Moonves continued, "The money's rolling in, this is fun ... I've never seen anything like this and this is going to be a very good year for us."

The former CBS head honcho added, "It's a terrible thing to say, but bring it on, Donald, go ahead, keep going."

The DR is corporate media?

Face it. The man is a living dumpster fire and everyone is waiting for the next explosion.

Researcher : The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.

Pig Vomit : How can that be?

Researcher : Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."

Pig Vomit : Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?

Researcher : Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.

Pig Vomit : But... if they hate him, why do they listen?

Researcher : Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next"

It's almost all negative coverage.

Missing the point entirely... yet again.

I get the point. You are rationalizing. You seem the believe that incessantly negative coverage somehow benefits Trump.

It's delusional, but here we are.

Maybe if your beloved candidates stopped hiding from the media like the plague, they'd get more coverage.

That's because the campaign in his hands is as downbeat and negative as I've ever seen in my life.

Depressing, fearful, dark, dystopian nightmare talk, etc etc. It's the darkest campaign messaging from a presidential candidate I've ever seen in my life. I bet his campaign team wishes he'd stick to the script instead of being the Minister of Doom.

Gal for win!

And it's OK, Jeffy. You and Trump will always have Paris.

When measured it's absolutely intensely negative.

I don't disagree. However what Corky is suggesting is that intensely negative coverage of Trump somehow benefits him. It's absurd.

@#13 ... However what Corky is suggesting is that intensely negative coverage of Trump somehow benefits him. It's absurd. ...

First, please justify your current alias' assertion about what Corky is suggesting.

Is it what it is really suggesting, or your interpreting what it is suggesting?

Then, secondarily, justify why your current alias thinks it is absurd.

- It's absurd.

Then it should have been easy for you to make a counterargument to the points made in the article... oh, wait, attention troll.

Never mind.
